My gear shifting lights and cig lighter don't work. Any lights on the Center console don't work. I checked the fuse box and they seem fine, although I cant find where those lights would be. ...

All I can say is that I think it may be a wire or wires in the dash area. Mine forces me to drive with a separate light to see speedometer. The radio goes on frequently and changes itself from cd to tape to radio. Driver heated seat no longer works. See if some of your lights work with the headlights off. Some of mine do. I have had mechanics look, but at $90 an hour, I pull em out after a few hours and no results...

Lights in the a/c console knobs in the Jetta 02 not working

Usually on the VW's if the A/C console lights don't work the console is malfunctioning/broke. If your switches still work the a/c, heat, vents, etc. it just means the light is out and to fix this problem would probably require a "New" console. I purchased on from the dealer for around $100 and did it myself, it was not a fun experience. Check to see if your cruise control works...for some reason my lights were out but switches worked and my cruise control was out.

Console flashes. Also locks & light go on & off by theirself.

I don't know about your lock situation - but I had the same issue as you with the blinking/flickering lights on the console/radio/overhead console. What the problem usually is, is the headlight control switch, the one to the left of your steering wheel. There should be a dimmer switch, headlight controls, possibly foglight and auto headlight options. - I don't know if you have those.

What you need to do is either replace the switch, which is anywhere from $80.00 - $130.00 new - OR - you can attempt to fix the switch by taking the switch box out of the dash, taking the screws out, and resoldering all of the the connection joints with fresh solder. What happens is over time these joints crack and have bad connections.

To test if this is your issue, try pressing hard on the headlight switch, or dimmer switch, or knocking on it, while your console is illuminated and if it dims that's your issue.

Hello Gary, I have this problem still. I think my Jeep likes to keep us on the edge. I do know that I was told it was something in the console that was costly and the center console/dash had to be torn apart. Well that wasn't problem. I do know that this rectangular box behind the overflow canister attached to firewall, has solved alot of unexplained issues for me. My center console reads all different issues, but usually none are true. Now my console no longer reads when driver door is open when moving, at all. It says low coolant, frequently, but my heater core is bad so that is the problem there, I think. What do u mean by speedo works? Your speedometer? Well I would replace that box if you can find in junk yard for $100 and it fixes problems good deal then. Also check your fuse box inside and any underhood that address this issue. Good Luck and Happy Jeepin'
