Question about Apple iPod nano
Question to fixya.com specialists:
My iPod doesn't download or charge from my PC or laptop (IBM Thinkpad lz60t). It also doesn't appear in My Computer or in the left column of iTunes when connected.
I live in Israel and the support from Yeda, Apple's distribution partner, has been unbelievably bad. I have been to the Tel Aviv office eight separate times. Four of those times, they simply replaced the iPod and I continued to have the same problem.
I had my PC tested at the shop where I bought it and they found nothing wrong. The technician, who is no expert in iPods, said it may have to do with the USB cord. He said that the iPod may read USB1 and not USB2 and suggested replacing the iPod cord. Apple charged me $35 for the cord and when I brought it home, the computers still didn't read the iPod.
This whole ordeal has been incredibly frustrating. I'd be grateful for any help so I can finally use my iPod six months after getting it.
I don't have a solution, but I do have a comment.
USB2 ports ARE backwards compatible. You can use your existing cable on either USB1 or USB2 ports.
