How do I undo what the cable man did to my tv remote

I have tried the following:holding down the power button. the sleep button, the menu button, the channel return, the display button all work. The +100 button doesn't seem to work. My tv is not hooked to a converter box satellite or cable, just an antenna. My volume is like on permanent mute. The remote control or the tv won't work the volume up or down buttons.

Do a reset to it. It will bring it to you into its factory setting mode. There are two types of reset to TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight; will be better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done

SOURCE: Remote control code needed for this TV

The Insignia is-tv040919 is a Cytron and the code is 11326. But no Comcast multifunction remote contains that code -- so you cannot enter it manually and the 991 search function will not find it. I discovered the make and code because last year I installed the Insignia tv on a Comcast DTA with the small, black two function remote. That remote programmed quickly. When I moved that tv to the room with the cable box and multifunction remote, mayhem ensued. I got an $8 RCA 3 function remote today and it's working great on the Comcast cable box, a DVD player and, drum roll please, our old friend the is-tv040919.

Why does my new 58inch Samsung keep coming on in the middle of the night all by itself and how do we fix it?

You may have your sleep timer/wake up functions set by mistake or It could be because your remote batteries are low. Remotes are known to send off some weird signals when they're on the last bit of juice. Your TV could be interpreting infrared noise from your remote as an "On" command. The power button on the remote or the TV itself could be stuck. check your settings on the on screen menu to see if there are any errant settings.
To turn off the Sleep Timer, follow these steps:
  1. Turn on your TV.
  2. Press the MENU button on your remote control. ...
  3. Press ENTER button on your remote to select Time. ...
  4. Use the Up ( ) or Down ( ) arrow button on your remote to select Sleep Timer, and then press the ENTER button.

  • You can also try the fix in the video Below:

    tip

    Service menu codes panasonic

I provide this information for those that are qualified and trained to do TV repair work. Entering or making changes in service mode by untrained persons can cause significant and permanent damage to your television. If you are not qualified to service your television, please DO NOT ENTER these service menu codes.

Panasonic TV's after 1996 can be set to "Serviceman Mode" with the
    following remote control sequence:

-select the SET-UP icon and select CABLE mode.
-select the TIMER icon and set the SLEEP timer for 30 minutes.
-press the ACTION button twice to get out of the menus.
    -change to channel 124.
-adjust the volume to minimum (0).
-Hit the VOL down button on the TV itself (not on
the remote) and a red "CHK" should appear in the upper corner.
-press the ACTION and VOLUME DOWN buttons (again, on the
TV, not the remote) you will toggle between AGING and SERVICEMAN modes.

Select Serviceman mode. The POWER button on the remote control will
select one of the five Serviceman Adjustment modes.

    The modes are:

B - Serviceman VCJ SUB Adjustments. These include sub-tint,
    sub-color, sub-brightness, sub-contrast, colorkiller/ABL/gamma,
audio and video adjustment, and vertical size.

C - Serviceman VCJ Cut-off adjustments. These include Red, Green
and Blue cut-off, red and blue drive, automatic fine tuning
(AFT), RF AGC (RF gain control), horizontal center, beam limit,
    etc.

S - Serviceman Options Adjustments. These involce the PIP and
    clock.

    M - Serviceman MTS (Stereo/SAP) adjustments.

CHK - the mode you first entered. Normal picture and sound, lets
you check things over and still have a hotkey into the
    service menu.

There is one more adjustment that isn't in the five modes, it's
global. When in either the yellow or red CHK mode, you can press
RECALL on the remote control to enter the purity field check mode.
This lets you select a pure white, red, green, or blue screen. A
good thing to walk away from if you just want to temporarily freak
out the floor manager, but it will be fixed as soon as the TV is
    turned off. Oh well.

To get out of Serviceman mode, press ACTION and POWER on the
receiver simultaneously for at least 2 seconds. The TV will momentarily
shut off and then comes back on.

May someone please send the service mode specifications for a Samsung LED 40 inch TV UA40EH5000R?

I don't have service mode specifications but I do have a Samsung and looked around for how to get it in service mode some time ago because the HDMI cables somehow disconnected themselves a lot. Thought it was an electronic problem but it turned out to be a parenting problem instead SO I have never used this information and can not vouch for it. I cut and paste it from a note I copied from a forum entry to use at your discretion:
    First post:
To enter "Service Mode" Press the remote - control keys in this sequence :
    From Standby Info-Menu-Mute-Power On
    - The buttons are active in the service mode.
Remote - Control Key : Power, Arrow Up, Arrow Down, Arrow Left, Arrow Right, Menu, Enter, Number Key(0~9)
Careful though there are things you shouldn't touch in this menu.

    avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-tvs/601553-samsung-service-menu-research.html

    Another post:
    Method 1
Put TV on standby and then push in series these buttons on the remote: 'info, menu, mute, power' the TV will then turn itself on and display a menu.
    Method 2
Turn the power off. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 8, 2, Power in sequence.
    Method 3
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
    Method 4
With the TV in standby, press the {SLEEP} {P.STD} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
    Method 5
With the TV in standby, press the {DISPLAY} {MENU} {MUTE} {POWER} on the remote.
    Method 6
With the TV in standby. On the remote, press Mute followed by 1, 1, 9, Enter in sequence.
Samsung LCD Monitor Service Menu Instructions

    End quote.
Good luck. Just a basic suggestion you probably don't need: keep track of any changes made by writing them down so you can put it all back if you have to.

TV will not come on with remote or power button

The following instructions are for the Emerson EWC1303/1903 tv/vcr. That's the closest match I could find to the Spongebob Squarepants 13' TV
If it's actually in Sleep mode, do the following:

    TO CANCEL THE SLEEP TIMER
Press the WAKE UP/SLEEP button on the remote
    control until “SLEEP TIMER” appears.
To view the time left for sleep timer press the WAKE
UP/SLEEP button twice, then press the MENU button
on the remote control to exit the sleep timer setting

If unsuccessful, try unplugging the TV for 1/2 hour, then plug it in and try turning it back on either manually or with the remote. Either of these should solve your problem. Best of luck to you!
