SOURCE: wiring ceiling fans to wall switch

Hi Bigelow,

You need two switches.  It sounds like the Electrician set up the junction box for two circuits(Lights and Fans).  i say this because your supply has 4 wires, Red , Black, White and Bare. We may be able to oversome this with one Lutron Switch. Allow me to investigate, and I will be back.

SOURCE: I do not know where the button for the valet mode is.

First I would check with the installers at Circuit City as to where they would commonly install a valet switch on your model.

As for those that I have installed, their location was an area on the dash that would protect it from being accidentally bumped or hit by normal activity in the front cabin area, easily accessible from the drivers seat. So you may want to search your dash area for a little (most times BLACK) push button, it could be just under the dash or maybe in the glove box.

Good luck

Where the **** is the Viper valet button?

Consider how the switch will be used before choosing a mounting location. Check for rear clearance before drilling a 9/32-inch hole and mounting the switch. The GRAY wire in the two-pin plug may also be used as a (+) ghost switch input and can be connected to any (+) switch in the vehicle. (See Feature Descriptions section of this guide.)

This is from the installation manual for the Viper 300. To answer your question, it is probably camoflaged. They only needed to tie +12vdc to the input line. What does this mean? Well, my best guess is, they are using one of your switches on your dash to act as the Valet function. Look for where the Gray wire, from the wiring harness of the Viper goes to: that WILL BE your hidden Valet switch. Best of luck!

Where does the black wire on the valet switch for a older model viper 300 12p pin ongl with gray valet wire

Hello Jesse,
I am not sure what kind of a valet switch that you currently have for replacement, however all viper systems use a two wire connector, with one gray wire and one black wire and a blue connector on the end. All this does when you hit the switch is series, or connect the two wires. The brain reads the number of pulses that is receiving the specified timeframe and then completes the command based on the set number of pulses. This connector is a separate 2 pin connector from the 12 pin main harness. This will be located when looking at the 12 pin harness on the right side of the brain.

Valet switch location

The valet switch is usually located around the drivers side. Each installation is different, as are most alarms. The valet switch could be part of the flashing LED or, it could be incorporated into the on glass antenna. If not, it should be located below the driver side dash. If you can see the alarm, locate the blue two pin plug and trace the wire to the push button valet. If the unit is manufactured by Directed (Viper, Python, Avital, Clifford, Valet, Automate, Hornet, etc.) turn ignition on then off, press and release valet within 10 seconds, LED will illuminate solid to show system is in valet. If the unit is manufactured by Audiovox (Prestige, Pursuit, Code (new)) turn ignition on, press and hold valet switch for approx. five seconds, release, LED will illuminated solid to show system is in valet.
If you are attemting to manually override the system, turn ignition on, press and release valet switch to disarm.

No not that I could find, before you remove the whole this just pull both fuses on the main harness red wire there should be 2 total, also check to see that the white ignition wire is hooked up to the remote start unit as this is a very important wire that needs to be hooked up because it is tyed in with your transmission system
