After you try to login and fail, a link near the login button will show up that says "forgot password." If you can at least remember the email address you used when you created this account, this link will help you reset your password. You will have to check your email to complete this process.

I hope this helps,
--Robert

I an old Facebook account/page my visitors are sent to I can't edit the photo of me or any information on it. It has a link to my new page. Can I just get rid of it and keep the new one?

You can deactivate that account.

  1. Click the account menu at the top right of any Facebook page.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Click General in the left column.
  4. Choose Manage your account and then scroll down to click Deactivate your account.
But if you linked your personal account with the page. you must change the administration power to any other personal facebook account first. like your page from that account. then transfer the admin role to that personal account and delete your old account.
tip

How to Backup Facebook Photos and Text

  1. Click Account and go to Account Settings.
  2. Click the Learn more option next to Download Your Information.
  3. Click the Download button.
  4. You will then be prompted with a message indicating that it takes some time to collect all your information. Once that information is ready for download you'll be sent an e-mail with a link to a compressed .zip file containing all your personal information.
tip

Facebook account suspended, facebook account locked,

If your facebook account is suspended this is most likely due to facebook issuing you warnings that if certain behavior is not stopped then they will suspend your account. This can be because you sent to many friend request or your account was sending malicious information out. You might not have done this willingly, but instead your account was comprised.

In some cases once you log in to your facebook you will get a notice that your account was suspended and you will need to follow the on screen prompts in order to unlock it. This is usually a verification of your personal information like date of birth, name etc.

If you do not have this option you can email [email protected]. Include your email address that is registered on facebook in the subject line of the email. In the body of the email describe the problem you are having and they will respond back to you. This can take up to 5 days but the time varies.

Tips to prevent your account from being compromised

What is phishing? Phishing is a way of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy source.

-There are a lot of phishing attempts on facebook and other scams aimed at spreading viruses and stealing personal information. Be careful when you click links on facebook that take you to other pages requesting your personal information like facebook usernames and passwords. Also, be careful when using apps, some have been phishing attempts and will request your information and permission to access your account, then it will send out malicious links to attempt to get other people involved, spreading throughout facebook.

-Do not respond to emails claiming to be from facebook requesting personal information such as your username and password. These are obvious phishing attempts.

-Always keep your anti virus programs up to day. I would also you download and install MalwareBytes and AVG anti virus. They are both free to use security tools and I use them.

Facebook has disabled my account. They asked for photo ID to prove who I am. I have sent in my ID many many many times. All the info on my account is 100% accurate. Why am I still disabled? All my photos...

You need to send an e-mail to there customer care department and from then you should ask: did you receive my photo ID?
You should then add: if you did receive my photo ID why is my account still locked?

Better still if there is a phone number for there customer care, phone that and ask the same questions.

You should be very careful when responding to e-mails which are asking for personal information. Not all are real. It's possible you responded to a fake one asking for personal information and the people that got this compromised your account, which maybe account for it being locked.

Got locked out, security q was not the 1 I did

It sounds like somebody may have hacked your account. As far as I know Facebook wouldn't never ask for a photo ID ever. Do not give out anymore personal information!!!! Contact Facebook directly to get your account back.

Why is my account been disabled and how can i retrieve my account? thanks...

Normally this occurs when the account has been reported or detected by Policy Violation. Possible reasons include, but are not restricted to:
  • Continued prohibited behavior after receiving a warning or multiple warnings from Facebook
  • Unsolicited contact with others for the purpose of harassment, advertising, promoting, dating, or other inappropriate conduct
  • Use of a fake name
  • Impersonation of a person or entity, or other misrepresentation of identity
  • Posted content that violates Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (this includes any obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit photos, as well as any photos that depict graphic violence. We also remove content, photo or written, that threatens, intimidates, harasses, or brings unwanted attention or embarrassment to an individual or group of people)

I would like to combine my professional and personal facebook accounts. How can I combine these two without losing info?

Facebook does not allow you to merge accounts. You need to copy your profile content (e.g. photos, notes, etc.) and add it manually to your more active account. Unfortunately, there will be some things you cannot transfer, such as Friends and Wall posts. Once you have moved all information onto a single account, please deactivate your old account from the Settings tab of the Account page. Afterward, you can add email addresses and networks to your new account from the Account page. Please note that maintaining multiple accounts is a violation of Facebook's Terms of Use.
