Don't tell me you tried to upload the firmware from a wireless connection.

It's probably bricked. You could act stupid and send it back to Netgear, claiming it just died...(it did right?) and in the meanwhile, Staples is selling 624's for $40 this week.

I bought a netgear jwnr 2000 yesterday and tried to set it up at my sisters house for her, so i could take the other netgear router with me. It didnt work. The only indicating lights that were working...

1. Reset the router to factory settings.

- Before you reset the router, unplug all the cables attached to it except the power cord.

- Make sure the router is plugged into the power outlet, then hold down the reset button at

the back of the router for 30 seconds using a paper clip or a pen. You should see the lights flicker momentarily on the front panel of the router.

2. Once the lights are stable, connect 1 computer or laptop directly to the back of the

router(LAN ports usually they are labeled by numbers and have the same color, just pick one).

If you pick number 1, check the corresponding light indicator at the front panel of the

router, make sure light 1 is also lit up if not choose another port at the back of the router.

3. access the router's setup page by typing http://www.routerlogin.net or 192.168.1.1 in the

address field of your browser and then press Enter. Type admin for the router user name and your password (or the default, password). Setup and configure the router again.

4. If you notice the connection is not stable or the lights on the router are still not

displaying correctly, you may update or reload the same firmware(program or software) on the

router. You may download the updated firmware from http://support.netgear.com , just type the

model of your router, choose the version, press enter then click on Downloads, you should see

the firmware available for your router. Make sure to use wired connection when updating the

firmware.

I have a netgear WPN824v2 wireless router. I have just bought an iphone 4 and although I can get onto the wireless network, I can't see the interenet. Any thoughts appreciated

Some things to try:
1) Check the current version of firmware on your WPN824v2. If it is older than version 2.0.26, then try downloading and installing the firmware update to see if this resolves the issue.

Firmware Update: (click here) [Note: directions for performing the update are on this page as well]

2) Check whether disabling IPv6 on both laptops makes any difference. If you need help doing this, please ask me in a reply.

3) Verify that both laptops are using automatic (DHCP) IP address assignment

4) Verify that MAC address filtering is not preventing the second laptop.

Again, if you have any questions about how to do any of these checks, please feel free to send a reply. Also if after we're done with this session and you are happy with the information provided, please consider rating it with 3 or 4 thumbs-up.

First it is a netgear wpn824 v2 router i need to reset completely when downloading/uploading firmware it stopped and lights come on except for internet connection

1. Please verify the model and version of the router underneath it.
2. Go to http://kbserver.NETGEAR.com/downloads_support.asp and select the model of the router.
3. Please click on the appropriate version of the router.
4. Select the link of the latest firmware. Please click on the button Right-click and Save to Download.
5. Save the file to the Desktop.

Note: Please perform firmware upgrade with wired or Ethernet connection only. Before you upgrade, write down all current settings as you need to enter them manually after upgrading.

6. Using the computer hardwired on the router, open any web browser like Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
7. Connect to the router by typing http://routerlogin.com/basicsetting.htm or http://192.168.1.1 in the address field and click Enter or Return key.
8. A window will prompt for a user name and password. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password".

Note: If it does not take password as the password, you might have changed it when you have run the NETGEAR Setup CD so please try other passwords. If you cannot remember the password, you need to reset the router and run the Setup CD to reconfigure it.

9. Click on Maintenance and then Router Upgrade.
10. Click Browse and locate the upgrade file in your Desktop. Click Upload.
11. Please wait for the router to reboot.
12. Reset the router.

a. Please push the reset button at the back of the router and release after 30 seconds.
b. Unplug the power adapter for 10 seconds and then please plug it back in.

How to do a complete reset of netgear wpn824 v2 have pressed reset button and nothing have used holding reset button with unit on for 20 sec then off 20 sec then on again for 20 sec with out releasing...

Well it seems that you have uploaded the firmware on the router using wireless connection. The firmware on the router has corrupted and now does not seem to be recoverable.

Dude if it is under warranty then get it replaced. To log a complaint with NETGEAR go to this site:

http://my.netgear.com

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

If I have helped you, please help me, and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. If you cannot rate this post with the highest rating, then please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

No lights on except power light.

The firmware has been messed up. DDWRT might be incompatible with your router. I would highly recommend to reload the factory firmware or the latest firmware from Netgear's website. Loading 3rd party firmware will void the warranty of your device.

Netgear WGR614 Power light goes off.

I understad that you need to powercycle the router for it to work. In this case, please note that this indicates failure with the router hardware. The only thing you can do now is upgrade the firmware on the router. You may check for firmware updates by visiting the site below:

http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/family/a_id/1296

After uploading the firmware on the router, reset the router and reconfigure it.

If the issue persists ten the best bet for the router is to either get it replaced or trash it.

Reset my router netgear

just press the reset button at the back of your router (there's a tiny hole near the ethernet ports, you need to use a pin or a paper clip) for like 30 secs to a minute and power cycle it. (note
you can also do a software reset, just follow the steps below:
  1. Type 192.168.1.1 in a Web browser
  2. Click on Backup Settings
  3. In the Revert to Factory Default Settings click Erase
Note: Do not try to go online, turn off the Router, shutdown the computer or do anything else to the Router until the Router finishes restarting! When the Test light (looks like a check mark) stops blinking, wait a few more seconds before doing anything with the Router.

do remember that all your settings will be deleted once you reset the router.

hope this'll help you

ciao
