Question about Microsoft Outlook Express

Can't send emails in Outlook Express

I was approached by a friend. Says that he can not send emails. I checked and saw the following - indeed for sending via e-mail program Outlook Express 6.0 comes out error - 'An unknown error has occurred. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 0, Protection (SSL): No, Error Code: 0x800C013B. Next, look in the mail program folder 'Sent Items' and I see the following: Outlook Express is unable to access this folder. 1) The presence of free hard disk space and RAM checked, all right. 2) The file itself Sent (1) .dbx capacity of 260 MB 3) I tried to re-create the account and re-record it in the bank reports brought no result. 4) I tried to import the file Sent (1) .dbx file-by-Import Messages ... Microsoft Outlook Express 6-Import mail messages from the bank's program Outlook Express version 6 (tick - Import only messages created or received in Outlook Express 6 ), the output error - Can not find the messages in the folder or file with the messages open in another program. Select another folder or close the applications that can use the files you need. Question - how can I restore the folder 'Sent Items'

Outlook Express and/or your mail server probably does not allow files 260MB in size to be transmitted or received. Usual OE box limit is 20-30MB.

Cannot receive email.

If you can send but cannot receive:

Step1: Double Check your Incoming Mail (POP3) settings.

To Double Check your Outlook/Outlook Express Settings:

- Open Outlook/Outlook Express
- Click on Tools -> Accounts
- Click on Mail tab - you'll see the list of email accounts that are set-up
- to view info and settings for each email account, double click on an email account.
- Click (highlight) the extra or duplicate email accounts that you are not using and click on Remove button (on the right)
- Click on General tab, Servers tab, Advanced tab, accordingly and check your Outlook settings against the following examples:

Step2: A common mistake: For Servers setting (Servers tab), -> Account Name make sure that you use the full email address and not just the first part of the email address - for example: [email protected] and not just "janedoe"

- Login to your Web Mail and Delete any suspicious email that can block your Mailbox. (emails that have no "From" or corrupted spam emails can cause Outlook/Outlook Express to hang.

Follow these steps.
ncoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com")
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected])
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options.
Subscribe to mail plus:

Choose the appropriate link for your mail client.

I currently utilize version 2.0.0.4 of Thunderbird
and version 0.8.3 of YPOPS (there is a more recent version of YPOPS that you need if you are Yahoo Beta Mail) and have no problems.

Mail merge email from word to outlook express not sending

Suggest to make sure that Outlook Express is set up as your default email program (and not Outlook). To check this open Internet Explorer; select TOOLS, then Internet Options; Programs; and make sure Outlook Express shows as your E-mail client.

Can not delete emails from outlook express

dear friend

i saw this probs in days of win 98

let me tell u what u have to do

if you wish to empty ur deleted items completely

1. create a folder in outlook named "temp"
2. goto tools-> options-> maintenance and see the location of stored folder
3. goto that location
4. close outlook express
5. delete the "Deleted Items.dbx"
6. make a copy of temp.dbx
7. rename copy of temp.dbx to "Deleted Items.dbx"
8. open outlook express again and delete the temp folder too
done....

if you wish to delete few files

just reboot the machine and and open the outlook express right away, now you might be able to open deleted items,
go ahead and delete the old mails

Outlook Express Send Mail Error

I've had the same problem, and my way to fix it was to turn of the firewall and check if it worked, and it did.
When I was sure that the firewall was my problem, I gave accsess to Outlook Express manually through my firewall.
I can probably help you with that to, but then I have to know what firewall/anti virus program you use (if you got one at all?)

remove the incoming account settings from outlook express > tools > Accounts > Mail > Prpertes under advanced tam remove the incoming port numers

work arround if you want to recieve mail

Incorrect account settings.Remove your account and create new one in outlook.Check if u have installed any antivirus or firewall program blocking this.

OUTLOOK EXPRESS BACKUP FILE

BAK and BK files usually are backups of other documents or files.

The BAK (or BK) file extension normally represents files that are backup copies of other file. There is no 'standard' file format for BAK files. BAK files can represent virtually anything.

you have been using outlook, but you should still have outlook express on the programmes menu, when you open outlook express up it will ask if you wish to make this programme your default email programme.
