Hi there! why doesn't my netgear extender ask for na - smile.gif Please note that the Tenda 150mbps Wireless Range Extender A3 uses a default IP address of 192.168.0.254 - you must set your IP address to the 192.168.0.* range (* = any number between 2 and 253) to login.

The default access username / password (if required) are admin and admin.

Once you've logged in, you can configure the access point to route through your existing wireless router as the default gateway (eg. if your wifi router is 192.168.1.1, then you would route through that, and set your Repeater (Extender) IP to 192.168.1.2 so that you can connect to it and then "relay" your connection through the repeater. It doesn't mirror the connection details for the existing wifi router, it simply creates an "additional" access point to connect through to your existing wifi router - creating a bridge, essentially.

The extender can be linked to the existing wifi router via LAN cable or WDS. For WDS, you will need to set the IP's 1 digit apart in the last segment (see above IP difference), and switch them both in the Wireless menu to ""Wireless Networking Mode: Network Bridge (WDS), but the SSID must remain the same (eg. "Tenda1") for both of them (it doesn't cause a network loopback), and any wireless security authentication must be identical (password / pass phrase / key + encryption algorithm) on both devices. Again, as with the above point, remember to set the gateway of the extender / repeater to that of the primary WiFi router.

Try using the internal IP address for the unit to bring up the settings page.

Trying to setup my netgear wifi range extender

If you look on the back of the unit, it should have in small print, the access IP address, the admin name and admin password. If you have changed it in the past, then reset it back to the default. Typically netgear use 192.168.0.1, admin name of admin, and the password is either password or netgear1. Older units may use 1234. The only exceptions are newer extenders that ask you to put in a password when you set it up, in which can you will need to reset it to the defaults and do a new setup.

My computer tells me that I have the wrong router model but I'm sure that it's the one it is asking for. It says that NETGEAR doesn't support any other router but WNR1000 or higher and I have a...

it would be easy, first things first. you need to connect your laptop directly to the netgear router. by plugging the ethernet cable on the first slot after the yellow slot on its back. after making sure that we are connected. try to open up internet explorer or mozilla firefox. then type this numbers, " 192.168.1.1 it should ask you for a username and password. username is "admin" all in lower case and password is the word "password" itself. all in lower case. after that it would take you now to the netgear page. then try to check the leftside of the screen and look for wireless settings. make sure you would be on wireless settings. because the other one is advance wireless settings. then create your own network name in SSID. then choose security options as WPA PSK TKIP. then create your own personal password in passphrase. make sure its 8 characters long then click apply settings. then try to access it now then unplugged cable. then try to access website. it should work.

I have a 2Wire Gateway that I'm trying to attached a WN604-100NAS to extend the range. I am getting good signal to the Access point but can't access the internet. It's asking for user,...

It's probably the user name and password of the gateway (might be printed on the router) and the IP address of the gateway like 192.168.0.1 which might also be printed on the gateway.
