I need to be able to type accents on webpages because I am studying multiple languages. However, I don't have a secondary numeric keypad on my keyboard, only the top number bar. I have tried all of the "alt+number" solutions, but nothing works.
In order to type accented characters, you'll need to know the ASCII code of that character. You can check that out in the character map. This can be accessed in the following way:
Once you have the character map open, you can just highlight the character that you want, and the ASCII code will be displayed on the 'Character map' window.
In order to insert the character, go to the textbox where you need to insert it, hold down the 'Alt' key on the keyboard and type the number on the numeric keypad.
In case of a laptop, you'll need use the numbers on the numeric keypad. But there's no separate numeric keypad on a laptop, instead, the numbers are arranged on the same keys as the letters. They're separate from the numbers on the top line.

Another common problem. The drivers of the numeric keypad always confuse the NUM lock button. Try playing with the numlock and also if it does not work, try reinstalling the drivers.

This sounds alot like a virus i once had!
try a system restore to the point before these problems occured. if that doesnt work run a full virus scan. If that doesnt fix the problem you may have to wipe the hard drive completly.

1. Shut down the PC
2. Disconnect your network cable
3. wait 15 seconds
4. plug your network cable back in
5. boot back up
If this is a laptop or on a docking station, the process is a little different.
Good Luck!!!!!!!
