the sanyo 690 is the best vcr out I have had mine for 10-12 yrs!
just make sure you are in the vcr mode and not tv or cable mode it will do everthing for you!!!!!! columbo
Not really a solution....RCA customer services (from India, I think), says that there is no way with that VCR because both the front and back (red, yellow, white) ports are input, and the only other jack on the tv is the one for the antenna. Since the digital converter is inside the tv, a splitter would do no good. I would still have to get either a new VCR with the digital converter in it or get another converter box. An atmosphere of bait and switch is covering this hdtv scheme....
1. Set tv to channel 4
2. insert a pre-recorded tape into vcr.
3.press play once to start playback.
4. after a few seconds press play on the vcr for 3 sec you will see a playback picture.
when a picture doesn't appear on the tv screen repeat step 4.
5. press stop to stop playback.
You will need to take the original remoter and go into the menu, find the channel set up and reprogram the VCR for the channels, as when you lost power the channels also went out because of the memory chips need the power to hold the data.
