SOURCE: how to repair atp3 altec lansing

Best bet would be to just strip the wire with a wire stripper or utility knife and twist the bare ends together to fix the connection. A little electrical tape around those wires and you should be almost good as new. Of course you might notice some difference in quality but I'm pretty sure the only way round that would be replacing the cable.

Try it out and let me know how it works out for you. If you know how to solder it might be a good idea to solder the connection as well.

SOURCE: Altec Lansing ATP3 volume control/power know gone bad

just sone it, i had to break a whole in the bottom part , work my way around it with a screwdriver , it will snap every 2-3 cm and come off in the end.
after its off start at the (now exposed) bottom of the front bit and work your way up and aroud `till it comes off. mind the wires . as for the volume button fix , as soon as i played with it and tried it again , everything was good. even though replacing it doesn`t seem like a big deal
put it back together and will superglue it in the future( while typing this i doubt if it will ever happen), and it lookes good( except from the bottom ,where its broken !).
now the button is solid and the sound as well.

Is the label missing? All the information is printed on a label or stamped into the plastic housing. Have you opened it? Many have an internal fuse you can replace.
