when you are 1 mile apart a 1.5 watt difference isn't going to make a whole lot of difference . Its when you start getting further away that the wattage and the modulation make the difference.

Don't hook both antennas up. Co phased antennas only work if they are 8 feet apart and both tuned exact.

If you only have a 1 mile range, I doubt you are doing 100 watts. Unless your antenna system is that bad, in which case you are going to blow out the radio.
Galaxies are nice radio's. I wouldn't have ruined it with a mod like that. Also, I doubt its doing 100 watts. Guy is blowing smoke up your ****.
make sure your antenna is properly tuned, and just use one antenna. it will work out better for ya.
