    my brushes do not turn

  • MOMMYSQUAW Dec 06, 2007

this problem is not a vacum sweeper it is on the proheat rug steam cleaner. the brush is turning ok but the brush clatters and jumps the whole front. i tried adjusting the 1/2 moon clear guards like the guy said when i called but that didn't do anything either.it almost acts like the brush is not tight but it is.

    thanks cindy

My bissellpro heat is making a loud noise as I clean carpets. What can I do?

You have to find out from where the noise are coming (motor or from the front of the cleaner )
Motor- bearings or something gets in the fans of the motor
Front of the cleaner- check roller and holders at the end and 2 plastic covers true which cleaner sucking from carpet. That plastics sometimes get broken and vibrate

Bissell proheat 2x troubleshooting

Hi, it's Allie from Crucial Vacuum!

There are several things that may cause this to happen in your Bissell ProHeat 2x, like the brush assembly or the belts.

First, make sure the cleaner is reclined, or the brushes will not turn. If your unit is reclined and the brushes still do not run, check if there is anything tangled in your unit's brushes or if the brushes are damaged. Clear the brushes of any hair strands or tangled debris for their optimum performance. We recommend for these brushes to be cleaned and checked monthly and replaced once a year.

Next, unplug your unit and check both of your units belts. It is recommended for belts to be changed every 3 to 6 months, depending on the use of your unit. Belts can be stretched out and loose, causing the brushes not to spin properly.

You can purchase direct your replacement belts from Crucial Vacuum with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10

My dyson C07 ANIMAL is making a loud clatter noise when I push the head down. I have removed the sole plate and the brush bar is cracked so I removed it, but I understand the clutch maybe a problem also...

The noise is likely the clutch if you have a cracked brush bar. If so replace the brush bar, also replace the belts in the clutch or the clutch if the belts are stretched out.

My Kirby g3 is making a loud noise and the Fan is stoping to fast

POSSIBLE CAUSES: 1) Sometimes there is a piece of debris in the fan case. (Not likely, but possible) Take the power head, handle and cloth bag off of the Kirby, pick it up and turn it with the fan toward the floor and shake it to see if something falls out.

If there's nothing in there and it still makes the noise, you most likely need to replace the fan/impeller as it is probably cracked or broken. You can sometimes see fan damage by removing the power head, looking into the hole in the front of the Kirby and slowly rotating the fan by using the shaft in front. The damage can't always be seen that way, but if you can't see it, you'll need to take the fan case off so that the whole fan is visible to make sure. I have written complete instructions that should lead you through the whole repair. If neither of these things are found to be the case, check the carbon brushes. I don't have a guide written for this yet, but my switch repair guide (link below) will help you break down the Kirby to get to them. Unscrew both brushes, take them out and look at them. The remaining length of brush will pop out of the holder and if they are shorter than 1/2 inch long, I recommend replacement. (they are not expensive)

Brushes won't turn and vacuum will not pick up sprayed cleaner

There's a Capt. Obvious fix to check before you go any farther. Like many vacuum cleaners, the brushes on the Bissell carpet cleaners, by design, only spin when the handle is not locked in the upright position, so be sure to plug it in, turn it on, and depress the foot pedal to lower the handle while watching the brushes one more time to be sure that the fix isn't that easy.

If the brushes still won't spin with the handle in the unlocked position, lift the handle back up into the locked position, power off and unplug the Bissell, and look down and see if either of the two belts that make the brushes spin are broken, as a broken belt, or a belt that's come off the track, is the next most likely problem. Both belts must be unbroken and in the right place for the roller brushes to spin.

These belts can be seen in the clear plastic pieces on either end of the roller brushes. If you're having trouble locating them, **with the Bissell unplugged so the brushes won't suddenly start spinning and hurt your hand**, try spinning the brushes with your fingers while watching for the belts. They're black, about the thickness of two quarters, and the bigger one of the two (on the left end of the roller brushes, as you face the front of the Bissell), is just big enough to fit around both roller brushes. The smaller belt, goes around the back roller brush on the right and to a smaller cog wheel behind it. If you see a broken belt, or a belt off the track, that's your problem.

Here's a video you can watch for free on Bissell's website that tells how to replace a belt. I'm sure the belts can be ordered online somewhere or found at some Bissell dealers or repair shops. Note, again, the two belts are different. If only one is broken, be sure to order the correct one.

If the belts are intact and in the right place, does the metal cog wheel behind the roller brush right turn when the Bissell is on and the handle is dropped? If not, then the motor that turns that cog wheel must be burned out.
