The manufacturer page for this item is here: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/products-model.aspx?id=C_00002058
Their support page does not provide a manual, instructions or drivers.
I suspect that is because none are needed. This is essentially an external hard drive enclosure for SATA drives which are standard. Connected via eSATA or USB.

SOURCE: Docking station with known good SATA drive is not visible in My Computer

check the drive is visible to windows...

control panel>administrative tools>computer management>storage>disk management

it will list all drives (even ones you can't see in explorer)

assign it a drive letter and make it active from there.

Hello. I purchased the Thermaltake Blacx Duet-Dual Hard Drive Docking Station and am currently attempting to clone to 2 SATAs. How do I know when the cloning is complete?

Your doing a cloning of two large drives using a USB device as I have the same docking station. Cloning a 2TB drive will take some time depending on how much data and number of files on the drive being cloned. USB even 3.0 protocol is dog slow!
Give it time and do not interrupt the clone once started.

My windows 7 Home will not read my new Thermaltake BlacX Duet. Downloaded new driver and still no luck. Anyone have some suggestions? Im not a programmer, but can follow instructions. Thermaltake web

try with knowingly functionating hdd, also hdd sometimes will not display in my computer due to partition error, but will display in control panel- administrative tools - computer management - disk management , new hdd-s might do the same because they only have unallocated space, and need formating. I don't know if the device itself should display itself or not, check in device manager but maybe its normal that its invisible and shows only hdd-s. If a hard disk has malfunctioned to an extent, you will not see it anywhere in windows
hope this helps

How to install USB3.0 eSATA 2.5"/3.5" horizonatal mobile HDD Docking station?

Hi

Once you have the drive installed in the docking station you will need to install the drivers on the host PC, if your drive is not showing up in my computer, then either the drive is faulty, the docking station is faulty or the drivers have not installed correctly.

1 listen to the drive can you hear clicking noises from the drive, or is there any activity at all from the drive if not then the drive is either not sat in the holder correctly so is not getting power. or if it seated ok then the drive has gone faulty.

2. If the Docking Station is faulty return it and get it replaced

3 Remove and reinstall the drivers.

The Y-2041 comes with a 12V 4A power supply which is not quite as large as the typical laptop supply. It is manufactured by Ktec and the model is KSAH1200400T1M2.

I know it might sound a bit simple, but let's start at the beginning.

Make sure that the power is properly plugged in, and that it's securely plugged into the USB port.

Put in the hard drive you will be using.
Now turn on your device by clicking on the power button.
Listen out for a "ding" or a chime in your OS.

If you DO hear one, the hard drives may need to be properly formatted or not properly assigned.

If you hear a chime, go to your desktop and right-click on "Computer" and click "Manage"

Go to "Disk Management" and at the top, there are a few options, and check for your hard drives, and right-click on the proper one and click on "Change Drive Letter and Paths" assign it a letter, and check "Computer" to see if came up.

Thanks,

Hi There I am trying to locate the raptor 3.5"

Here's your solution, I had the same problem. Purchase Thermaltake Black Widow PC Gaming Hard Drive eSata + USB Docking Station (part number: ST0005U). I got mine at Best Buy for $55, but I'm sure you can find it online for much less. Good luck - trust me this works..... oh and by the way, dont buy a SATA-to-USB cable because your USB port on your PC does not provide enough power to the hard drive and you won't be able to access your drive.

Choosing an HDD docking station

You just need a an external case that supports 2.5" Sata harddrives and they will connect to your computer via USB.
haven't seen a harddrive that has the connection on the side ,it is usually at the back ,it could be some sort of a Toshiba adaptor that you might have to remove.
The back should look like this :
http://www.gearxs.com/gearxs/images/MK8034GSX.jpg

There are many brands ,coolermaster ,nvidea etc ,some have USB ,firewire and eSata connectors (your PC has to have firewire and eSata in order to use them) The USB ones are usually cheaper.
As far as the password problem goes you can take ownership of that drive by using the security tab on the specific folder that you cannot access but this depends on which operating system you have .Windows XP pro and Vista home and upwards can do this.
