I have an old Kenmore and here are the directions from my manual: 1. Draw thread from spool through bobbin winder tension discs. 2. Wind thread around an empty bobbin several times. 3. Place bobbin onto bobbin winder shaft with thread coming from rear of bobbin. Push bobbin winder latch against bobbin until it clicks. 4. Release clutch by turning clutch knob toward you. Start machine.

SOURCE: instructions for theading a Sears Kenmore Sewing machine model 158.14000

all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

To wind the bobbin, guide the thread around the thread guide on
the left top of your machine, then to the bobbin winder. Wind the thread around the bobbin several times, place the bobbin on top of the bobbin winder, push it against the wheel and press the foot pedal. It should stop winding when the bobbin is full or you take your foot off the control

SOURCE: Threading the Bobbin

Place the bobbin in the bobbin case making sure the thread feeds clockwise. Draw the thread through the slot on the case. Continue to draw under the tension spring and through the opening pulling out about 6" of thread. Hold the latch open, position the bobbin case into the suttle and release the latch. THe case should lock into place when the latch is relaeased.

With the top thread, hold out about 5" to the left. While holding on tot he top thread, turn the hand wheel toward you and you should see a loop at the feed dogs. grab the two thread and bring them behind the presser foot.

I had the same problem. I'm a novice sewer. I just bought my machine. It did the samething, tension didn't work, the thread kept knotting up underneath, and the fabric kept curling up in the back.

I adjusted the tension knobs to no avail. Then it kept bothering me that it was curling up. I then decided to set the dials back to where the factory had them and adjusted the presser foot just a hair counterclockwise and I haven't had anymore problems.

The other day the needle almost broke because the tension was tight on the thread. You have to make sure that the needle is at it's highest point to get it to release the fabric so you have a thread tail.

This is my first purchased machine. I had a New Home years ago that was given to me, however it blew away in the tornado of 1991 in Kansas and I never replaced it. I really do love this machine. I don't believe I will ever want another.

Sears carries manuals for most of their machines (usually for free). The manual is invaluable for using your machine, including threading instructions.

My Kenmore Mini Ultra sewing machine won't sew the button stitch. I have followed the instructions on the manual but still the thread does not get sewn onto the fabric. Simple straight stitches are ok

it's possible that there could be a problem with the gear or cam that does the button hole stitch

try a different needle--one for the fabric being sewed
try a different bobbin --make sure the bobbin is not warped or damaged
try different thread-- use EVERY thread guide

make sure the bobbin is wound correctly--inserted correctly in to the bobbin case--and turned the right way.

I need a manuel for 11206609 I am trouble with the bobbin catching and the thread is bunching. I also need to a manuel to see how to properly thread the machine.

I can't find a manual for that exact model, but I found a service manual and instruction manual for a 11206630. They will, hopefully, be close to your machine. Normanlly, when the model numbers are that close, the manuals are very close as well.

I need instructions threading the bobbin on Kenmore sewing machi

I believe it is a seperate bobbin case, hold the open part of the bobbin case towards you with the finger at the top, hold the bobbin case by the latch, drop the bobbin in so it turns anti clockwise and pull the thread through the slot about 6 inches, keep hold of the latch, and pop the bobbin case in

How do you thread a kenmore sewing machine I can't figure out how to thread the bobbin for kenmore machine 1385.15343600.  I am a beginner, so I will need pretty detailed instructions. Thanks! Jenny

Put the bobbin on the short metal stick on top of the machine. Unthread the machine. Put the spool of thread on the tall, left side stick on top of the machine. Take the thread and wrap it counter clockwise around the circular, short, metal thing on the left side of the top of the machine, only 180 degrees. Thread the thread through the hole in the bobbin (which should be on top). Press the bobbin to the right, into the little white thing. Pull the turning wheel on the right side of the machine out. While holding the end of the thread, softly press the presser foot so that the thread goes around the bobbin a few times. After that, cut the end down to the bobbin. Now, press the presser foot down and wind the bobbin until it stops on it's own.
