Fill the fabric dispenser with vinegar and run it through a full wash without loading it. Repeat if needed

SOURCE: Whirlpool Frontloader - the bit

you can remove the top cover of the washer( 3 screws alongside the top rear of unit) and top will slide back and off, the dispensor is right there with sort of a tear drop shaped cam and lever.Make sure thats in tact. start the washer , and youll see it cycle foward and back if broken youll need to replace the part, dont think the line is blocked (if it was youd get fabric softener overflowing out front), im thinkin the water never gets to that area of dispensor. id start with the lever system

SOURCE: Brand new Cabrio washer model

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is a note from the users manual that is important:
IMPORTANT: Fabric Softener option must be selected to ensure proper distribution at correct time in cycle. Do not overfill or dilute. Overfilling dispenser will cause fabric softener to immediately dispense into washer.

You have to select the fabric softener option with each cycle.
It is normal for small amounts of water to be remain in dispenser at the end of the cycle.

Feel free to call the Help line and make a phone inquiry Make aure to pass your model number to them.

SOURCE: why does whirlpool cabrio washer

I wish I had a solution for all the problems this Cabrio piece of junk has presented. Just did a load on the "sheet cycle" and fabric softener was added; however, the dispenser filled with clear water and did not drain. In addition, the sheets did not spin as dry as they should have.

SOURCE: fabric softeneer despenser has water

Had one where the softener dispenser had all kinds of dried up crud from the softener which caused the water to collect there instead of drain down. It actually looked like wax, after cleaning it out the water problem went away.

I have a LG front load washer and my fabric softener stays in the tray.

Your fabric softener dispenser is clogged. Use a long pipe cleaner as if you were unclogging a drain to clear it. After it’s unclogged dilute fabric with water from now on.

Whirlpool cabrio H2Low - why is fabric softener disp emptying right as it is filled and tray is pushed in?

Hello Sandy Grosvenor! We are terribly sorry to hear of your concern with your Whirlpool Washer. Please make sure that you are not over filling the fabric softener. As this will cause the tray to empty right away if it is. If that is not the issue then please respond back to this email address [email protected] with your name, reviewer id (Sandy Grosvenor), phone number, street address, zip code, model & serial number, and date of purchase on the appliance. We would be happy to assist you. We look forward to your reply.

Fabric softener drains out, but pumps water back into dispenser after draining?

Hello friend, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

It is a normal operation to receive water inside the dispenser after draining. This is part of the siphoning action of the drawer. You would just remove the drawer and empty the water out, then reattach the dispenser drawer. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

My front loader Bosch washing machine is not draining in the fabric softener section.

Make sure it is the fabric softener that is not being added. Try running w/o fabric softener and see if the tray is still full. The reason I am asking is that after I run my washer the fabric softener tray is full, with water, not softener. The factory tells me it is because the water fill nozzles have realigned and overspray into the softener tray. Not a big problem, since my system is under warranty I am having them fix the nozzles and then I will know how to redirect.
If it is the softener that is not being added then check to make sure the line is not clogged. You can lift out the bleach / softener try and check for cloggs.

Water Softner Dispense wont empty - Kenmore Elite Quiet Pak 4 HE3t

I'm sure you heard a small motor running from time to time during a cycle. That moves an "arm" which sends water to the different chambers during a cycle. Fabric softener is dispensed when water goes to that chamber and dilutes the fabric softener. That chamber then empties by a siphoning action.
If you want to narrow down the problem a little to help trouble shoot -- put some wet rags in and run the Rinse and Spin cycle with some fabric softener. If the softener is not dispensed, then you know that the water isn't being sent to that chamber properly.
If you are intrepid enough to take the top off your washer, do that and see if the arm appears to be moving during a normal cycle. Maybe the arm got dislodged or broken during the move.
If water isn't being diverted properly, I think this calls for a real repair person.
