My Toshiba TV freezes when I try to change channels, how can I fix it?

Upon turning on my TV, the channel I was last on (radio 1) works (sound and picture). However, when attempting to change channels, the screen simply freezes and there is no sound. Yet, the menu button still works and I can change my TV onto different modes (on Toshibas: 1,2,3, HDMI1, HDMI2 and PC) yet the channels within DTV will not work. Please help!!!

Try to do a system reset and check if it fix the issue and check below video:

else if the TV is under it's warranty period you can always ask the seller / dealer to fix or replace if it can't be fixed.

These are the steps to reset the DTV features and unfreeze your TV:

  1. Ensure the tv is in analogue mode, not dtv and turn it off.
  2. With the remote: press info, then menu, then mute, then power. These buttons need to be pressed sequentially, not all at the same time, and in quick succession. A menu will appear on the tv.
  3. Navigate to the reset option and press the left arrow key on the remote (or press the enter/ok button). The tv will reset itself and turn off.
  4. Turn the tv back on & it'll re tune all its channels. DTV should be working again.
I hope that helps.

If you did the hold down '2' '9' reset, there isn't much more you can do. I have tried pulling out the battery pack and putting in a jumper wire between both battery contacts inside the radio (with no battery) and turn it on and let it sit for 1/2 hour. That's about the last thing to try. Only other goofy thing could be you got 'sticky pop' on the 'manual' button, so the radio thinks you pushed the manual button as soon as you turn it on. Make sure that the rubber isn't stuck around the manual button. You could try a QTip with 70% alcohol around the edge of the MANUAL button, but you also might wipe off some lettering at the same time, so use caution. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

My 32" Toshiba LCD HDTV keeps freezing on the same channel and when I try to change the channel or input selection, it doesn't respond(to the remote or directly on the TV.) The only thing that works is...

These problems are normally caused by the TV station.

1. Call the TV station responsible and ask for the network engineer.
2. Tell him the Day, Time, Channel, Program, basically every little detail about the problem.
3. The station will normally check it and fix it.

Also, contact Toshiba and tell them. Really this is part of the DTV Transition thing. Many stations are reconfiguring and settin up equipment. They sometimes make mistakes. Don't worry much about it unless it continues for more than a week. If you like the station, I would call right away.

TV gets stuck on channel, won't advance past channel 7.1

Try doing the Channel Search again. See if that helps.

If not, sounds like the Digital Board could be defective. Since this TV is brand new suggest calling your local sharp authorized service center to replace that board under warranty.
