That means you are trying to record a digital signal but cannot (for several different reasons). Record via analogue.

SOURCE: won't record...says din lock

I'd say you have the digital input selected. The player does not see a digital signal and gives such message.
Select the analog input and you should be able to record.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Din Unlock - Unable to record

You must have the unit switched to "DIGITAL" input - switch it to "ANALOG" and record that way. The "DIN UNLOCK" is when you have the lack of a proper digital signal, or a digital signal with copy protection, like you cannot make a digital copy of a digital Minidisc, etc...Does that make sense? Let me know if the "Analog" setting works for you. Good luck.

SOURCE: i'm trying to record on

"The definiton in the manual suggests you are trying to record a digital bitstream that is either dead or incompatible with the recorder."

That is completely wrong. DIN UNLOCK means what the first poster said - that you are trying to make a digital copy of a digital copy. You cannot (for legal reasons). Record via analog.

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN YOUR LENS WITH ALCOHOL AND A Q-TIP. It has nothing whatsoever to do with your problem and you may well damage or destroy the lens or the transport.

Why doesn't it record to md?

You can't make a copy of a copy of a digitally recorded MiniDisc, so make sure that isn't what's happening- if so, it usually says "Din Unlock" and you can't record. I think when I record from one deck to the other digitally, I have set the recording deck to "REC", then I hit 'play' on both decks at the same time. Using the digital input, it should automatically set your track marks. You cannot make a digital copy of this MiniDisc, BUT you can make an Analog copy. Let me know if you need more info.

Need to unlock din lock

By 'Unlock din', do you mean unlock the region the recorder uses, unlock the din input or unlock the tray or what?
When recording and you see 'unlocked', it means the DIGITAL signal you are trying to record is unclear or missing.
If you are trying to record a signal from another region disc, it will not copy. Add a little detail.

Got error message din unlock c71

You probably have selected an recording input which was not connected to a source, you may have a cracked optical cable, on some other machines the digital copy management system gives this error from an attempt to record a third generation digital copy. You also may have a digital source such as Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 the older MD deck cannot read in that event you would need to get digital conversion box to kick down 5,1 or 7.1 to something the deck can undestand. If you were recording from a TV some allow you to reset the audio output to something the deck can understand from Dolby 5.1 etc.

Getting error message "Din Unlock

That means you don't have a good DIgital INput (get it?) signal or bitstream. Correct the source's playback or connection.
It's on page 37 of the manual.

Why i am seeing DIN UNLOCK

If you are recording from a DIGITAL input like the OPTICAL or DIGITAL COAXIAL and their is no signal, or if it is a 'non-copyable' copy of a digital copy (from a mini-disc or protected audio CD-R) you will see this. You need to record using ANALOG inputs, then you won't have this DIN UNLOCK problem using analog. Double check your digital connections and make sure your digital source is set to 'play' and see if the DIN Unlock goes off. Otherwise, use analog reocrding only.

Whats a c71 din unlock plz if any 1 can help me just email me plz

Usually, you are trying to record DIGITALLY from a source that has 'copy protection'. Try recording thru the Analog jacks, and you shouldn't have this problem.

C71/DIN UNLOCK

The definiton in the manual suggests you are trying to record a digital bitstream that is either dead or incompatible with the recorder. Go analog.

What happens if you skip the receiver? Be advised that anything coming in digitally through a cable/satellite box may be muliti-channel and convertible by the player to its native 44.1 khz sampling rate.

Error message

Din unlock means 'digital input is unlocked' meaning it is not receiving a signal on the **digita**l input you have selected. ( eg optical or single co-axial digital from another cd player etc) Check your connections and re-select the source using the front panel until you select the one you want. What are you recording from?
