My tv keeps saying stand bye and it won't cut on all its doing is making the click noise and the red light keep blinking

Try unplugging it for 30 seconds and see if it resets. If not, take the model # and get on the internet for the manual and go to trouble shooting page. It should answer your questions

PS3 stays on standby mode!? Try pressing power on button and eject. And even try turning it on with the 'PS' button on the controller. I have to keep pushing 'power on' button for ages until it finally...

Red light flashing/won't turn on

you are right about replacing the thermal compound between the cpu/gpu and heat sync. the gpu and cpu may need to be refolowed also. another tip is dont over tighten the screws. Tip: keep your ps3 flat do not keep it standing. when it is standing and heats up the thermal compound can start to move away from the heat sync. Keeping it flat will help extend the life PS3 at least from the overheating issue.
