My printer says paused, but it still won't print if I resume or restart the document

Even if I delete the document, it still says paused.

- Cancel all pending files on Printing Status.
- Restart the computer and power off/on the printer. Try to print again.
- If the printer won't still print anything, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver using the driver disc.

I have a manul I'm wanting to print, but now I don't want to print it. How do I stop it? And also it is printing little boxes (Not the words) What do I do about that?

Runaway print jobs are always a pain! First, power off your printer to stop it from wasting paper. If the power button doesn't work, pull its plug. That will stop the printing for now but your print job will probably restart when the power is resumed.

Whether you are using a PC or Mac, documents that you send to the printer are managed by a printer management service which is responsible for printing documents in the correct order and handling any printer problems that occur. When the printer is turned off, any documents you print will be saved (queued) for printing when the printer starts again. To fix your runaway printing problem you simply need to delete the copy of your large document that is still queued for printing.

On Windows you will see a small icon on the toolbar at the bottom right of your screen that looks like a printer. When you click on the icon you should see a window appear which has the name of your printer in the title bar (e.g. HP Deskjet) and a list of any documents waiting to be printed. To delete a print job, simply right-click on the document name in the list and select "Cancel". When asked "are you sure you want to cancel the document" click on YES and the document will be deleted from your printer queue. Repeat this for all documents in the list until it is empty, then you can restart your printer.

The process on a Mac is similar and even easier since you will see a bouncing printer icon with an exclamation point on it on your toolbar. Click on that icon to see the print queue, click on the document you want to delete and press the DELETE key to remove it.

Only prints first job - can't delete from que

Please try this approach instead:

1. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET STOP SPOOLER (this will stop the print spooler service)

2. Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.

3. Browse to Start -> Run... and type in NET START SPOOLER (this will restart the print spooler service)

4. Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.

I hope this information has been helpful.

After pausing a printing job, my printer has gone offline

Go to Printers & Faxes, open your printer (the window where you see the documents being printed), and from the upper menu leftmost item (Printer) uncheck the option "Work offline" or similar. Then try resuming or restarting print.

Printer keeps on feeding paper and prints illegible material -- if I turn off and on again it will continue feeding same --- how can I correct this problem which has occurred before and stops and resumes...

I assume you use windows XP and have you printer connected to you computer directly.
First turn off the printer, then go in your printers manager and pause the printer you have problem with it.
Delete all documents still in the printers queue. When deleted, put back on the printer, unpause the printer and print a test page (with the printer's property page on, you should have a test page button), if they dont delete, restart the computer, they shoul not be ther after rebooting.
If the test page goes well, maybe the document is corruped and need some fixing (some big picture do this problem on printers) check with other documents if they print well.
If it goes wrong again, do all the same thing again but beffore reprint, download and install the last version of the driver for you printer/OS.
