Rear hatch drops suddenly when in up position
Problem seems to be the struts that hold the door up(shocks) need replacing.You may want to check with a body shop before you spend any money. Just to make sure.
Change the lift struts

ok, then the lock actuator is most likely seized, if you need instructions to repair, let me know, you have to get the part first, this will be a dealer item most likely. Then it's pretty simple. Remove the interior panel on the liftgate, you will see the latch and lock assembly, and a rod coming from it,the rod leads to the actuator. remove the rod, the retaining screws for the actuator, the electrical connector and then reverse for installation. Any issues let me know.

Remove the wiper arm. Lift the hatch up. Remove all related trim around the hatch. Unbolt the wiper motor, and install in reverse order.

Check all the fuses under the hood and under the dash. Then try having someone wiggle the liftgate while you "tap" the down button repeatedly. Do not apply too much force to the liftgate.
