Some vehicles only have one upstream and one downstream O2 sensor. Older vehicles only have upstream O2 sensors
Right do you mean the wires to the O2 sensor from the loom or the wires from the plug to the sensor ,So i will explain what i know here and thats all i can do for you.On our europeon motors their is a 4 and 3 wire O2 sensor type,now on the sensor side of the plug their will be two wires the same colour normally white or gray ,these two wires are the heater circuit so should show a resistance with a meter ,now the coresponding two wires in the loom plug should read 12v with the plug disconnected ignition on .Now the other two wires are for the readings so push a pin through each cable and then with engine running plug connected you should read 0-point something which varies with engine speed somewhere between point 7 to point 2 varying with speed .if it stays around the point 4 mark then replace as its not working correctly ,you should be able to read the voltages with a code reader though
these wires are colour coded on the vehicle so if you are using a factory o2 sensor that your trying to wire then you just have to match the wire colours to each other
Lack of upstream heated O2 sensor bank 1 & bank 2. I would first check for broken or corroded wires to both upstream O2 sensors. If no apparent bad wires O2 sensors are bad.
First what do you mean by a universal o2 sensor? You must make sure that you have the right o2 sensor, most newer vehicles have four o2 sensors 2 upstream and 2 downstream, upstream and downstream are meant to show where the sensors are in relation to the catalatic converter,some o2 sensors have 1 wire or up to 4 wires most with four wires are heated o2 sensors so you need to be sure you ve gotten the right o2 sensor for you vehicle as well as the right replacement for the proper location! My experience is that most after market o2 sensors have the same colored wires as the vehicle. Also most o2 sensors have electrical plugs? If you need help finding the right o2 sensor for your vehicle then please dont be affraid to ask!
If the dog chewed up the coil wire you will need a new coil. How did the dog GET to the wiring? Did you let the dog live? The wires are color coded. Splice the wires color to color. Depending on how badly the dog tore up the wires, you may want to get a new, (or used) wiring harness and re-wire the bike following the pattern of the existing wiring.

Basically any bell wire will work, available at any home centers everywhere. if the existing wire is long enough, just wire nut it together (white to white, color to color)
Well, Bank 1 is the passenger side of the vehicle. Are you replacing upstream or downstream 02 sensor?
The upstream is in the exhaust manifold. The downstream is further down in the exhaust pipe. Upstream would be designated by the code HO2S1- B1 and the downstream would be indicated HO2S2-B1.
In either case, you basically unplug the wiring connector, use a 7/8 wrench (or an O2 sensor socket which has a groove cut in the side to allow the wiring to not be pinched) and loosen the sensor and install the new one (with anti-seize on the threads) and plug the connector in.
The upstream sensor is pretty easy- the downstream can be a little more difficult, but is not too bad.
