I have a 55" sony wega dlp &just replaced the lamp. I have apinkish red ∧blushish green color bar at the top∧a blue green bar at the bottom what is the problem?

Thats caused by a bad optical block. The cost of that repair will almost always be greater than replacing the TV.Thats a very common issue with alot of Sony DLP models which suffered that optical block issue with the blobs of color usually blue or green

Look in your manual on resetting the lamp hours after installing a new lamp.

According to the manual (you can see it here) page 122 that describes 3 red flashing lights:

"The lamp cover is not attached securely. When you secure the lamp cover, the POWER / STANDBY light flashes in red and the LCD projection TV enters the standby mode (see page22)"

Page 22 says:

"... if the POWER / STANDBY light flashes continuously, this may indicate the display unit needs servicing..."


Most DLP displays make use of a "color wheel". These small motors spin at many thousands of RPM. They often begin to make scratching sounds when they are beginning to fail. Some manufacturers make it difficult to change yourself - and others make it pretty easy.

this problem has to do with te optics in the tv...not the lamp. I had the same problem, even after replacing the lamp. I called sony & they are replacing the tv with a 2010 Sony Bravia 40'. Free! For a fee of $325 I could have got a 46" or for $725 a 55". I went with the 40". Try working it out with sony. It worked for me and only took a 5 minute phone call. Good Luck

have the optical unit block bad

The problem is that your LCD optics Engine is failing. There are three small screens much like the size of a nono Ipod screen, inside of the optics engine. Each one a different color Red, Green, Blue. The blue lcd screen is faulty.These can be replaced but labor to do this is intensive and most tech will want to just replace the optics engine. So in short the Optics Engine need to be replaced to correct this problem.

My Sony Wega KDF-55XS955 55" was going on for 1-2 minutes then going black with no sound and after a few minutes would come back on. After reading all the posts and talking with a repair guy I replaced the bulb and that fixed the problem.

You have probably have installed the wrong lamp or you installed a third party/off brand Lamp. If that is the case anything other than a Factory replacement Lamp will have a different color temprature. Install a Lamp that is listed from the manufacture.

Sony USA are aware of this problem and have extended all warrantees on this model till 2010!
