Every router I have ever seen allows you to reset the configuration to factory default - but not allow you to retrieve a forgotten password and maintain your settings at the same time. This is often referred to a "factory" or "hard" reset.

When you initiate a factory / hard reset, typically by pressing & holding a button on the router - or behind an opening in the router case - all the changes you've made to it will be returned to the factory default. Wifi becomes "open" with no password (on most devices), the login username / password also go back to default settings (common ones are: admin / admin, admin / password, <blank> / admin, <blank / password, etc.). Consult your router's set up guide or online documentation to learn what the factory / hard reset procedure and the default settings.

Once you gain access to the setup pages of the router, configure it as best as you can remember, and lock it down with good security settings. At minimum - this should include changing the router's username / password, the WiFi's SSID and do not broadcast it, add WPA or WPA2 encryption and secure it with a security key (use a mix of numbers, letters, symbols etc.).

I suggest recording the settings on paper and then tape it to the bottom of the router. There it will remain out of sight - but ready when you need it.

Good luck!

SOURCE: I cant log in with my username and password

Reset the router to factory defaults by putting in a push-in in the small hold at the back of the router. You should then be able to login using the default password. Default password should be in the user manual.

The best thing to do is to write you username and password down.
Also keep the not in a safe place so you don't lose it. I think the best place to keep the note is to keep it under an object or something special of yours. I hope this helps you.

Forgot my password and am having trouble changing it

What is the Operating System installed on your computer? Are you logged in?

If you are logged in and the operating system is Windows, then right-click the "My Computer" > "Manage", now from the new windows, expand "Local Users and Groups" and again open "Users", there you'll see your username on the right pane of the window, now right-click your username and click "Set Password" and type in a new password, click "Ok" and you are done. Your old password is gone and your new password has been assigned.

If you need further help, let me know with more details, assuming is tiresome :-).

Good luck.

HOW DO I REMOVE THE GUEST ADMINISTRATOR WITHOUT BEING AN ADMINISTRATOR ON MY COMPUTER SO I CAN DOWNLOAD THINGS ON MY COMPUTER

You question is not that specific so i can't give you the specific answer, there're several ways to configure this settings, but it depends on the Operating system you are using. If you are using windows Xp, log off from the desktop and press Ctrl+Alt+Del simultaneously on the login screen (sometimes you'll need to press several times), a small logon window will pop up, type administrator on the username box and if a password was set with the administrator, key in the password, or if there's none, just press enter after typing the "administrator". After you are logged in with the administrator account, go to control panel - user account - create new - and create an account (any username that you want to give) with the administrator privilege (rights) {you should select Computer Administrator}. Again log off and login using the new username and password (if you've set a password). Now with that account, you can do anything with your computer. If it's not Xp then the problem is difficult being without the administrator's rights. If you have another account with administrator's rights, then you can disable the Guest account. Good luck Thanks for using FixYa.

Need password to internet

You can't.

What you can do is reset the entire router. There should be a button on the back you can press in with a paper clip, hold it down for a few seconds, lights should flash.

Your router will then be reset to factory defaults. Without any more information I can not tell you how to find the default user/pass to log in.

Left my old company and took my personal computer with me. However I can't get it to work because everything is lock out by old company and they won't remove their rights??

Hi,

You have two options that may work. Can you log in with your old username and password to the system? If so, and if you have sufficient rights with that user account, you can remove the domain and join a work group. **Before doing that, create an administrator account that you know the username and password for.

The second thing is to see If you can log in locally with that administrator account? If so, then you can access anything on the hard drive, and you can change the domain to a work group. On the log in screen, you should see username, password, and domain. Change the domain to the local system, and use administrator to log in, if you are lucky, the password could be blank. Or maybe (not likely though, they would give you that password. If not there are ways to hack it.

If you get to that point, or if you need assistance trying my suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks

Trying to login to my account,it's not accepting my login,or anything

If you mean trying to log in to your computer using your Username and Password then I suggest trying to log in to the Administrator account and change your passowrd for the account you are unable to log in to

Once you are in the administrators account, check that there are no limitations on your account that prohibits you from logging in. To do this right click on My Computer and click Manage. On the computer management window click on Local Users and Groups, click on Users folder.

Where your username is right click and click on Properties. Make sure none of the boxes are ticked (especially Account is disabled - If it is untick) and tick Password never expires and click on Apply

Log out of Administrator Account and log in to your own
