I have a 2004 f150 ford explorer. I have been having troubles with the gages dropping so I took it to my mechanic and they found various codes in the odometer reading area. they searched the codes and they told me it was my cluster, and that it needed to be replace. When I drive I will loose my gages and my windows and radio stop working then my temp gage and oil gage will come back up, at time my fuel and or my battery gage will come up allowing me to use my windows and radio. If I hit a bump at times the gages will drop. There are days when the cluster works like there is no issues with it. My mechanic told me that there was an issue with the connectors to my cluster and we would have to change those, well for some reason in my truck its a harness which ford no longer stocks and we cant seem to find a used one. today coming home I got the word test on my dash and so I checked out what the codes where this time and I got "sweep gages, 4L2T, and 0202 "code. the other codes that we got the last time referred to my gage gage and battery gage, I have replaced the battery and terminals and I still keep having this problem. Also when my key is not in the ignition when I open the door or its left open to long I will get the chim and my gages will go up and my odometer reading will display and I have to actually start my truck to get them to shut off. sooo what do you think it is? Im frustrated cause Ive spent so much money trying to find out what it is and Im getting no where. Thanks all

Check the ground points. You don't need a cluster. The cluster will not turn the radio or anything else off. I don't have the ground points for the f150. You can probably find them online. Since you're having problems on the inside, look under the dash. Common points are at each side of the cabin area by the side kick panels. Also around the steering column. Any black or black/white wire will be a ground. Since the truck keeps running, the grounds under the hood are probably fine.

2004 ford explorer will turn over wont crank

Cranking is starter motor action so is turning over. If it cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you check for spark at the plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also check for fuel injector pulse. Any applicable trouble codes?

Truck is running rough and will barely idle

It did cause any problems on my truck. Have you tried the egr valve. Sometimes the system will give you a bad code. ??? Is your truck 4x4 drive. If so does the 4x4 in gage in 4 high or 4 low if not then it will be the purge valve. If it does in gage and the truck is running rought then try your egr valve. When was the last time you gave it a tune up?

go to autozone rent the free tool called a block tester buy the fluid for it (about $8.00 us)drive the car make sure the resivour is about 3 inches down so you dont suck any fluid into block tester. pour blue fluid into block tester put it in antifreeze resavour. squeeze bulb sucking air from resouivour for up to 2 minutes if fluid turns yellow your head gaskets are leaking. I think you may find this to be your problem

My 1991 ford f150's battery garge pulses with my blinker blinking

I had this same thing happen to my 1971 dodge demon and what cured the problem was I took a # 10 wire and I ran it from my positive post of the alternator to my positive post on my battery. The reason it does that is that the wires that are used are most common either 14-16 guage and you get a voltage drop due to this.

2004 f-150 5.4L temp. rising at speeds over 65mph

Not a mystery....just sounds like your temp sensor on the block may be bad.

Easy way to be sure, go to an auto parts store when you do get the check engine light and have it read and see what the code is. If they can't tell you what the code number means, come back here and post.
