First you nee an old computer 286 or 386. You also need to run DOS and you need a rib and cable. The last thing is you will not find any one in the US that will give you the RSS for that because of motorola's agreement ( harsh to say the least) but you may find it on a ru site. If you need more help you can e-mail me direct at [email protected].

I need to know the channel my motorola mts2000 flashport is operating on

This type of radio can only be read out by someone with a software subscription and appropriate equipment. This could be an online or local Motorola dealer, a large company, or a municipality.

Best regards.

How do i program my motorola mts 2000 flashport scanner

Your Motorola MTS2000 is not a scanner but a high-end two-way radio. It requires a computer, special interface box (called a RIB, for Radio Interface Box), the proper cable from the radio to the RIB, and the programming software called RSS (Radio Service Software.)

This is much more difficult than a scanner to program and if not done properly can cause the radio to automatically transmit on frequencies that you are not authorized to use.

Try calling your local Motorola dealer and ask them if they will program it for you for receiving only. They will either flatly refuse or they will be happy to charge you a service fee. Some places are more willing than others.

Will the software from a MTS2000 work for a MT2000? if so what do i have to do to make it work

The MTS2000 shares software with the MCS, software package # RVN4176N includes DOS software RVN4097 for the MT2000. (It may be on the same CD, not sure.) You will need to use a "slower" computer, era 1999-2003 to program, due to speed issues.

Disclaimer: Motorola software is proprietary and only offered by Motorola to authorized dealers and entities.

About mts2000 i

The MTS2000 is a dealer programmable radio, there is no way to know what is in channel 4. You would need to have the radio read-out by a dealer, the print-out from the original programming or know who the dealer was and call them.

Communications

Hi,

Yes, but depends on the configuration/setup and programming/frequency assignation of the MTS2000.

To my knowledge, the UHF version of the Motorola MTS2000 are designed to operate either in the 403~470Mhz or the 450~512 or 520MHz band.

On the other hand, Motorola TalkAbout Radio are design limited to operate in the FRS band which is 462.5625~462.7250MHZ and/or the GMRS band which is 462.550~467.725.

So technically, both the MTS2000 and the FRS/GMRS share some frequencies. What needs to be done is to re-program the frequency allocation of the MTS2000 into its channels to match the TalkAbouts frequencies. The other way around is not possible. TalkAbouts frequency assignments can not be reprogrammed/changed. Below are typical TalkAbout Channels/Frequencies.de11c4e.jpg

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Programming

Why buy a radio you cant program? I suggest you google for Motorola authorized radio shops in your area. Unless you have the software and equipment to do it, you won't be able to. You will also need letters of authorization for any channels you wish to have programed for transmit. If your a HAM or GMRS user be sure to bring a copy of your licence.
