I inherited an old Sony Trinatron TV it's working fine & have just bought and LG VCR to replace a VCR that broke which also works fine. The problem is in tuning the VCR into TV. I automatically tuned TV to area I live in but it tuned into the video channel 0. which means I can't now use 0 to tune the VCR will I have to tune them both manually but if so still not sure how to get the video channel clear of the station the TV automatically tuned in.

Hi s_lepianka, what is the make and model number of the dvd player as it might have an option to change its output channel frequency. It really depends on what frequency channel 0 is on and what frequency your dvd outputs on ?
can you use rca video in (av in) and rca video out (av out on dvd )?
Another possible way around is to by an AV to RF converter that is on a frequency the tv does not tune into and tune a channel number manually to the frequency of the rf converter.

Depending on where you live you might have to go buy an HD antenna and scan for channels and hope you can get a PBS station or something to get you off of zero and then go into the menu and manually program a channel you can use to tune your VCR maybe that might do the trick

Hi,
Problem seems with main tuner in this tv as other AV inputs working fine so please replace main tuner (TU2) to solve this issue.
There are two tuners mounted on A board TU1 and TU2, please replace TU2 and part number would be written on tuner itself.
TV is approx 10 years old so I would recommend that do not spend lots of money on it.
Thanks.

I just got the Sony KV-36XBR250 from a friend of mine. It worked fine at his house. I have since moved it 1 mile down the road and I plugged the satellite cable into the "to converter" port and I don't...

double check your cable routing. The cable that goes into the tv from a satellite box should be "out to tv" or something like that. If you have an old vcr laying around you can test that on channel 3 to the tv. Just in case something broke in the tuner circuit. Hope that helps.

Can anyone replace a cable tuner

I bought a 42" Akai TV that really was just a monitor because it didn't have a built in tuner. I dug up an old vcr hooked my cable up to it and plugged rca cables to the composite out on the vcr to the composite in on the tv and set the input on my TV to run off that input.I was able to change channels through the vcr it worked like a cable box. Thats just an idea that could save some bucks. Oh yeah, if you do this make sure you get an older vcr that has a tuner in it.

Can't receive proper dvd/vcr signal

Your Toshiba TV uses the American NTSC standard.

Your DVD/VCR uses the Australian PAL B/G standard.

Unfortunately the two are not compatible as they stand, but there may be an option in the DVD/VDR menu to force the output to NTSC. This varies from make to make.

Another option would be to modify your main DVD player to make it multi-region so it will play ALL of your DVDs. Some models can be modified with a simple handset code, some can be modified with a software update, and others need an internal modification.

Post your make and model, and I can advise you on modification.
