There are brushes that run through the exhaust like a chimney sweep,
You can also do that by hand. What ever you do, there will be a lot of loose stuff left in the pipe; so don't clean the outside vent until last.

My dryer was running now it wont restart and the light next to filter is flashing

Most likely a buildup of lint. If you haven't already cleaned the lint filter, do that first. If you have, then remove it and look in the slot that it goes into to see if there is a buildup of lint that has gotten past the filter screen. Use a vacuum with crevice tool to try to clean out this area, or a small brush (even an old toothbrush) to get any lint that may be blocking the sensor and causing the dryer to not work. Unplugging the dryer, waiting 30 seconds and then reconnecting, should re-set this error.

Too much lint is getting past the lint trap. How

if the filter isn't damaged then this is normal, you should take off the bottom panel and use a shop vac to blow out all the lint inside the dryer especially the motorand blow it forward and vac it up so you don't have to pull the drum to clean it,then remove the lint filter and take off the duct that the filter slides into, now go outside and make sure nothing is blocking the flapper like an animal cage that comes with some of the outside vents,if it's clear go inside and remove the vent line,if it's a long run from the dryer to the outside blow it out with a leaf blower, you should do this once a year and your clothes will always dry on time and your motor and other parts will last longer, when the lint builds up the dryer runs hotter and longer and that's what damages the dryer

Our problem is with how much dryer lint does not get caught in the lint filter. too much gets past it and plugs up our dryer vent - therefore it takes way too many cycles to dry a load, driving up our...

It may be that the lint catch (Peice the filter goes in) may need to be cleaned.
Unplug and unhook your dryer.
Remove the back panel usually has 1/4 in screws.
Once you have it removed, on the left you will see the lint trap, that can be removed by the 4 1/4 screws around it and the 2 philips screws on top of the dryer.
Once loose you can clean it with a wet dry vac or like me and simply wash it out with a hose, if you chose this method then make sure it is completely dry before putting back.
If you have a wet vac or hose on a vacuum then remove any excess dust you find, especially the area where the vent hooks up to the dryer.
Good Luck!

Frigidaire dryer, lots of lint getting past screen.

Hello,
Here is a link to an exploded view and parts list for your dryer. http://www.pcappliancerepair.com/model-display.php
If you are certain that the filter is not compromised or damaged and is properly seated into the housing , you may have a problem with the housing itself whereby lint is getting into the blower thru a break in that housing.. I would examine that area for damage.. and make sure when you reinsert the filter, it is seated all the way down.. Hope this helps you... BTW: over time, it is not unusual for lint to build up in the duct since some of that lint is smaller than the filter media and will work its way thru.. If you are getting that degree of lint build up very quickly then you may have a problem as mentioned above..
Regards,
Rick

DCVH515 GE Gas Dryer

The sensor in the filter "PATH" is actually located past the screen. It measures the amount of air flow passing through the exhaust cavity going outside. My suggestion is to clean the airflow duct from right past the lint filter all the way out side. It is recommended that this be done once a year for optimal performance. If this doesn't work, let me know.

Lint Filter in Whirlpool Agitator washing Machine

I have a regular top loader and the lint filter is on the underside of the inner tub. You have to remove the inner tub to get to it. You might be able to find a service manual explaining this at appliancejunk.com.
