Question about MTX Car Audio & Video
My mtx amp has 60 volts at the outputs. What should I look for?

Any dc voltage at amp output is a sign this is blown. the problem is on the output transistors and can only be fixed by a technician

Take this apart and look at the magnet wire windings look for any thing broke or burnt. If not it is very likely it is more cost effective to buy new.

Unless your amp is 1 (one) ohm stable then you may have fried it. When you attach a 2 ohm load across a bridged amp then you have effectivly placed each output channel on a 1 ohm load. Not a good thing in most cases. Try hooking up ONE speaker on one channel and one input to that one channel one at a time. Then switch the speaker/input to the other channel and see if you can get either or both channels to work independently. Needless to say you must turn the amp off before you make ANY change in the wiring.

SOURCE: No power output
Set the meter to AC volts and measure the AC voltage on the RCA cables where they plug into the amplifier. The black meter leat will go on the shield ground of the RCA cable. The red lead on the center conductor. You may have to turn the volume up to get a reading on the meter. At high volume, you should read at least one volt but the actual voltage will vary due to the audio signal. If you get no voltage on the RCAs, measure the AC voltage on the input to the LOC. Let me know what you find.
