To eliminate the chance of the screen actually being damaged due to the camera being dropped, here's a little test you can do? Click on the MENU button and scroll to the 5th icon, the first setting you should see is LCD Brightness. Look at the scale and make sure the little top white arrow is in the middle, that setting should give you a normal brightness for the screen, if it is towards the left side that would dim your screen, move it to the middle using the side buttons around the main SET button. If the little white arrow is already set in the middle, then you screen might be damaged after all? Theres not other setting for the LCD brightness other than that one.
As for it not shutting off, do you mean the camera doesn't shut off or the screen doesn't shut off after a few minutes?

SOURCE: New EOS XSi LCD don't work

You have to set the camera to "Live View" mode. Check your manual for settings.
BTW, it's usually a bad idea to use Live View mode unless the camera is on a tripod. With Live View you have to hold the camera out in front of you and it's much less steady.

SOURCE: How do I switch from the view finder to the lcd

You must be in P, Tv, Av, M, or the A-DEP modes.

Enable Live View in the camera’s Menu.
On the second set-up menu screen go to
“Live View function settings” then "Live View Shoot"-> enable.
After this all you need to do is press the Set button.

SOURCE: My Canon Rebel XSi will not auto focus.

Actually what I found to solve the problem was to first set the lens in "MF" and practice taking a picture manually to see if that would work. When I did this, I discovered that the fine tuning portion of the lens was somehow stuck mechanically. I heard a loud click as I turned it. That was all it took to fix the focusing mechanism on the lens. Then I set to "AF" and Voila, the camera worked just fine.

My camera was dropped and now the aperture is messed up, giving me really dark and grainy pictures in bright surroundings, even set as low as 25.

i suggest you take the camera to a digital Canon repair shop and ask them for a repair quote. They may charge for a quote unless you go ahead with the repair, then you can decide whether to get a new body or get it repaired.

How do you adjust internal mirror in Canon EOS Rebel XSi Digital Camera?

The mirror won't affect the picture, since it flips out of the way when you take the shot. It's much more likely that the lens mount has loosened or been knocked out of alignment. Unless you have access to a precision optical bench and other tools, I'd suggest taking it into a reputable camera repair shop to have a trained professional do the job.

Our Canon EOS Rebel XSi no longer works on auto focus. The flash works but the camera just makes clicking noises and the screen says "busy". Any suggestions? The camera works fine in manual...

Optical focus relies on a gear driven motorized system to focus the lens. It sounds like the drive is either frozen by a foreign object (it doesn't take much) has gotten into the system, or a tooth has worn/broken on the gearing.

Try taking the lens off and blowing the camera out with some canned air. If that doesn't do it, it's a trip to the repair center.
