My phones text settings seemed to have been set with the "group conversation by default" clicked on, which I did not do. Could that have been used by someone to also send my text messages to their phones as well without me knowing it? What does that setting mean? Thanks, Robert

I get this behaviour in email clients from time to time as well. It's usually due to updating the client (email, messages, messenger, text, whatever) to the latest version. Various folks like MS and Google and others seem to think we all want our communications 'grouped' in some fashion, so every time they update, they give you their preferred setting, and you need to turn it off again. The setting is just a view (sometimes called a thread) of conversations between you and others. I prefer my texts grouped just by recipient/sender and chronologically.
If your phone was used to forward your texts to someone else they should show up in the 'sent' side of the list, or in your 'recent' messages. Unless they deleted them as they sent them.
I'd lean to app misbehaviour before conspiracy... and if you have texts you don't want seen, put a lock on the phone, delete messages as you send them, or don't send them in the first place ;-)

SOURCE: Phone Sending MMS Messages as Default

The phone allocates a certain amount of storage for messages on a whole. Even though there may still show space available for text messages, you have hit an invisible "limit" and the phone is now defaulting to MMS messages because there is "room" there. Delete a fair amount of messages and you should be able to start sending regular text's again.

1. Go to message settings under messages at the main menu
2. Click Text messages

This is how i fixed my problem which was the same as alyluvsskitt's

I receive texts from many people but one particular person's texts do not ring. Her contact is set on default; even if I change the tone, delete her contact and re-enter it doesn't so

You may have accidentally setup Do Not Disturb for that one person's conversation. This feature is number based and could be saved through contact deletion. Open the conversation with this person, click the i button in the top right and you should see a switch that says Do Not Disturb. Now make sure that it isn't enabled.

My phone's text settings seemed to have been set with the "group conversation by default" clicked on, which I did not do. Could that have been used by someone to also send my text messages to their ph

No, it simply means that when you send a text to multiple people at once, it groups them into one contact temporarily. This is mainly used if you want to contact the same group of people regularly.

I have a motorola electrify phone amd us cellular

Android phones can sometimes get buggy with the text messaging application when something goes wrong in the "Thread" that the text is happening in. I would suggest clicking and holding on the "Thread" of the conversation [This is where it groups the conversion by person] then choose delete thread. Choose the person from the contacts list and try sending them a message in a new thread. See if this helps.

How do I change from standard view to conversation view on an lg xpression

The only way I found to do this was to reset the phone's settings. To do that, click the menu icon on the home screen, then tap Settings on the bottom right. Now tap 'Phone' and then scroll down to 'Reset Settings'. Now tap 'Master Reset', and then 'Yes'. Now enter your phone's security code (default is 0000). This will reset all of your phone's settings, including changing the messaging app back to the conversation view, but you won't lose any contacts, messages, pictures, etc on it.
