High ph, algea, salty taste

We have an above ground Intex 18x52 pool. We are using the Intex Krystal Clear Deluxe Saltwater System. We put the recommended amount of salt in the pool 1 1/2 months ago to start it off. We live in Central Texas and run our system about 5-7 hours everyday. The has always tasted salty and then the pool had algea growing and the ph levels where extremely high. We have shocked the pool twice but are still experiencing algea and high ph levels (the water still taste salty). Would love your help.

You are going to need to buy chemicals anyway (acid for sure and probably algaecide) so find a good pool store tech and have them test your water and recommend the proper doses.

In summary though, you should not taste the salt in the pool and being able to means the salt content is to high. Chlorine generators will not work if the salt is to high and the fix is to drain water and dilute the remaining water until the salt content is no higher than max. No chlorine could explain the algae.

Generators also cause the pH to rise over time so you will need to keep acid on hand to counteract that.

I just put up an 18x52 Intex ultra frame pool last week, The saltwater pump and filter pump have both been ran daily for 12 hours.. No codes from the saltwater system, and the water is crystal clear.. ...

I sometimes have the same issue with mine.. One thing missing that helps protect the chlorine from burning off in the heavy sun is (Cyanuric Acid)or (CYA) You should be around 30-50ppm.. To bring this level up to 30-50, they sell a conditioner that raises this level.. Don't add too much if your already close to the 30-50ppm.. Other than that, you can continue to run the system as you already do.. Seems like it's maintaining clean and clear... Hope this helps???

My water is cloudy and says salt level low.....it seems salty enough as I can feel and taste it. Is there chemicals I am supposed to be adding or does this system keep it clean all alone just by adding...

While your problems are likely greater than just the salt content in the water I can tell you that if you feel, or more importantly can taste the salt in the water your salt level is WAY TO HIGH, not low. Have the salt level confirmed with an independent test either at a pool store or using a salt tester.

Salty taste, high ph levels, algea and have shocked pool twice

I'm just now setting up my Saltwater generator...so don't have your problem - yet! Local pool guy tho said with the saltwater systems you need to add dry acid to the pool almost weekly to keep the ph down. Sounds like what you're experiencing. The dry acid was cheap and came in small-ish containers, should last long time.

My saltwater pool tastes very salty, but my intex saltwater pump keeps saying low salt. I have to clean the cell everyday or it will not operate properly because the cell gets covered with white buildup...

Your salt is way to high if you can taste it. You will need to dilute with fresh water until you get the salt back down and then clean the cell for continued use.
