Frigidaire GLRS264ZA side by side diode

I replaced the diode in the wiring harness because I was having a problem with water to the door and icemaker at the same time. Since I replaced it myself, could I have damaged it unknowingly? Because I am still experiencing the same problem.

As long as you replace it with the same capacity of diode and there is really a diode in the wiring harness and you did not reverse the connection of the diode, then your are safe.

Water comes out of water dispenser on outside of frig and no one is touching it. seems to turn on by itself

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post I understand you have a problem with a refrigerator, model:FSR26H5AS correct ? Does it only shoot water out when the icemaker fills with water ?

If that's the scenario and If it is indeed a Frigidaire side by side, this is a problem associated with a faulty diode which controls voltages to the inlet valves.

Here's what you can do, if you have an ohm meter and measure accross the diode and get little to no resistance the diode is shorted. The diode may not be obvious as it is usually along the back wall (back of outside cabinet) and wrapped in an insulator.

The other way to check is through a voltage test. Measure voltage during an icemaker fill or a water fill to a glass, if there is voltage at all the valves at the same time, you have a shorted diode.

If so this is the kit required to remedy the problem, #5303918287. It simply can be "spliced" into the existing wires and includes the primary component, the diode.

My 7-button Frigidaire Gallery ice/water module is not lighting up and not functioning. No ice or water is being dispensed. Wiring harnesses seem to be all intact.

Hi

If freezer door switch is not working, dispenser won't work. Does the freezer light go off & on when door is opened & closed? If you have a voltmeter, check that water valve is getting 120 volts when dispenser is pushed in. If no voltage, I would suspect the micro-switch that you hear clicking when you push in with a glass. Even though it clicks, the contacts could still be bad in it. However other than that loose/off wire, ribbon cable for front buttons off/loose, bad board, child lock are something that can make the dispenser dead.

Frigidaire Gallery Professionaly series broken ice maker

If you hook up the water to the fridge, that means you connected the water line to the 'Water Inlet Valve' of the machine. There should be a two wire harness connected to the water valve back. Look for that....

But please note following...

Some water valves in fridges are complicated with one harness for water dispenser line valve and another harness for ice maker water line.

Also seeing a disconnected wire harness does not mean it is for the water valve. May be most likely. But be careful sometime there are test wire harness for technicians to get power readings for components.

Ice Maker gets flooded with water when using the water dispenser

There is a diode in the wire harness near the valve. It has failed allowing power to go to both valves at once.
Unplug the wire from the valve to the icemaker and unhook the icemaker. This should stop it until you can get the part.

When icemaker is filling water comes out door dispenser

I need the entire model # from the sticker inside the fridge section. My guess is this is the model that has a diode in the wiring harness that directs power to the valves and has gone bad letting power go to both valves. I would look and see if you also have water going into the icemaker when you press for water out of the dispenser. If there is no diode then the water valve is bad. I need the model # so I can look at a wiring diagram. You can look at the wiring to the water valve and see if it has a diode. It is black block and has two wires in one end and one out the other. If so the diode only can be bought and spliced in. Let me know so I can help.
