Your problem is most likely caused by dirty optics. Place a sheet of paper on the glass & make 1 copy with the lid up. Look under the glass at the mirrors on the scanner & see if there is any dust on them. If so,turn the copier off & unplug it from the wall, remove the glass & wipe off the mirrors with a DRY cotton rag. There are 3 mirrors on the scanner assy. There is also three mirrors under the lens cover that should also be cleaned. After cleaning the optics, make a test copy.If your copies are still to dark, press the additional functions key & select exposure adjustment. You can lighten/darken all copies by changing this setting. If you have any problems or questions my email is [email protected] Good Luck!!

SOURCE: Canon PC6re copier makes copies that are dark on the long edges
Just fyi, a Canon PC-6e is a copier that is about ten + years old of a model... The drum unit will make the copies better.... But, you most likely need to clean the optic's. Have you tried to make the copies lighter??? If I am correct, there is a small botton on the control pannel that will turn... It will make the copies light one way and darker the other way... Good Luck
SOURCE: what does error message E711 mean on a Canon Copier NP6230?
E711 on the NP6230 points to a DC controller fault. Unless you can get the part literally free, it's not worth replacing - something else could be damaged along with the DC controller and you will not know until you've replaced it. Walk away
