We have a Canon Powershot G12 camera. When taking a picture a red flashing camera appears at the lower left side of screen, the picture comes out white. What do we need to do?

That is the camera shake icon. When you press the shutter button halfway in low light conditions where camera shake is likely, a flashing (We have a Canon Powershot G12 camera. When taking - g0035839.gif) will appear. You need to change your settings to compensate, usually setting the camera on P or Auto will usually get you an acceptable image. Check the user manual or download it from the Canon website.

SOURCE: Canon powershot A630 blinking flash graphic

You have to unscrew the left side of the camera (if you're looking at the back of the camera, the side that is right beside the flash). Then, at the very top, with a tiny screw driver, just gently tap the black flash compartment and it should work after that. I've had the flash problem twice in the past year and both times I got it to work again by taping on it. Hope it helps!

SOURCE: White photos canon A470? i have a canon

I had this problem too, I think it's the shutter problem, it doesn't close
when a picture is taken, therefore, causing the over exposed photo...I've sent it back to canon, still waiting for the reply...

Canon powershot G12 takes pictures but the LCD screen isn't showing anything

Is it only the pictures? What about other normal video function? If you don't see anything at all, the LCD is damaged (dry). You could have it replaced at a service center but check out the cost first.

My canon powershot g12 lcd works fine but the photos are all 'whited' out

You may have the exposure compensation settings overexposing you images. Since it compensates without affecting the image prior to shooting, you won't see it until after the image is taken. Check that and the flash exposure compensation too.

When i turn on my canon to take a picture i cannot see a previews display on my G12. Also after taking a picture it doesnt show the oicture on the display. With video it's the same, I hear the recorded...

Hi judithsunsun,
On the back of the camera, on the lower right, below the round Control Dial, there are two buttons, DISP and MENU.
Turn the camera on, then press the DISP button. Press it once and the camera should display an image of the picture you will be taking. Press it again, and the camera will add some additional information to the image. Press it a third time, and the camera will turn off the display.
I suspect your camera has turned off the display. Try pressing the DISP button a few times, and see if that doesn't fix your problem.

I have just purchased Canon Powershot A480

I think the "busy" part can be put down to the camera performing a function or recharging the flash. The red icon I THINK shows that the camera is focussing.

With the last model it worked so that you could half press the button to focus on something (eg a fast moving pet) and then once your pet stopped moving your could fully press the button to take a photo and the focus distance would remain the same.

Pictures appear with a pink background

I had the same problem with the Canon PowerShot S410. I called Canon and they said it was a known issue. They are going to send me a return, paid postage label and replace the sensor at no cost. Canon rocks!
