SOURCE: when the fax machine prints

1-take out cartridge and clean the inside , there may be toner on the lamps
2-take a look at the drum(shiny cylinder) does it have black rings?? replace
3-does it have scratches or grooves? replace
3-could be the lamps (long thin strip of lights) some of the lights are bad

Your scanner block has a loose connection or it is bad.

Black band down right side of page when copy or fax

Most common cause for a band on copies or sent faxes is debris on the scanner glass. A cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol will usually work in cleaning the scan area. After cleaning the area, allow it to completely dry prior to testing the machine.

My brother fax machine - only receives black pages

do a quick check on 2 things.
- Copy a document(put a printed page on document feeder and press Copy button) , has the Copy come ok? if copy is also blank that means toner/ink problem, needs to be replaced.

- check with your Fax receive Print settings. is any setting of econo mode/ contrast/brightness Off the track? If found any of such issue then Reset it or put it on average (middle).

Hope this will put your Brother on the track

Black page when copying and sending faxes.

You most likely have a bad SCANNER BLOCK. Not good!

Fax machine sending black pages

Make a copy. How do the copies look? You may have a bad LED assembly.

Also press Function 64 set, Are the prints black?

Poor Quality

If you can copy ok you have effectively ruled out your machine as you have used both the scanning and printing mechanism of the machine.

It will probably be the fax on the other end as if it sends a poor quality page that's all your machine can receive, a poor line can also cause problems if it is from multiple faxes. If so have your provider check the line (you probably hear static on the line).

Black pages when making a copy or printing something

Have you tried both drum and toner supplies? cause it sounds like a drum fault, if you have tried a new drum and toner, and it is doing it when printing internal reports, receiving fax's and copying then you have a tecnical issue to do with charge and this would likely render machine unecomical to repair (unless you can find a bad contact with drum on machine). If it receives faxs clearly but copys black then it is different issue (ie optics).
