We lost sound on our Sansui TVD2798 even though the speakers work. Mute button has no effect. Using the remote, we can't find any option for sound off or on.

There usually is an option for turning off the internal speakers as part of the TV setup routine...BUT you may have had a failure of the internal audio in your TV. Your Zenith remote might have a MUTE button which turns off TV sound and displays a mute message or the MUTE buttton might have been pressed accidentally and has become stuck

My volume and mute button has stopped working all other buttons are functioning properly

Press the mute button and then turn up the volume button. If no sound still then press the mute button again. If we are talking about a Remote, then change the batteries.

Mute is on when I turn my vizio on. How do I

The OSD consists of several menu options: Picture Adjust, Audio Adjust, TV Tuner Setup, Parental Controls,PIP Set Up, or Special Features. When in the TV menu, select the Audio Adjust and make sure the mute is off. It may be worth checking the manual which is avialble from: http://www.vizio.com/downloads.aspx

No sound

Check the speaker icon in the taskbar at the bottom, if there is an X then it is muted. Right click to unmute.

Also as it is a laptop there may be a mute button on the keys using the function button and a typical mute icon on a key or even a seperate button altogether.
