Printer displays "cover open" but it isnt. printer will not do anything

E805- Fan Failure- open rear cover find PSU and check for rotation of cooling fan at power up ( spins as soon as display lights up)
If it isnt spinning - replace with correct part from Canon, the circuit is expecting a feed back specific value which will only be seen with the correct fan.

Open the main cover. Look into the body of the machine. The covers top left corner has a projection that when the lid is closed this projection passes through a hole in the main body and hits a micro switch to say the cover is closed. the switch has stuck. Poke a thin screwdriver (power off of course) and watch the switch pop back into its right position. All will be well. A well known fault of this model.

Reinsert your cartridges after properly cleaning them

Does the "Status Monitor" in your printer display any errors?
Is the printer cover securely closed?
Is any of the LEDs in the printer flashing?
What happened just before the printer stopped working? Did you have a poer failure? Did you install new software or hardware or a Windows update?

Please, report back the status (ON, OFF, BLINKING) of the following LEDs:

TONER
DRUM
PAPER
STATUS

you need to open cover and undo and remove the grey cover inside the printer as there is a switch at back of machine which has *** off

This is the problem the cover switch in the printer you need to replace the switch this switch is very difficult to find in the printer is usually hidden ,you need to check the cover there will be a projection in the cover which will go into a slot thats where the switch is located

Hi, can you help me? This printer was working fine for about 4 months and then in wont print anything anoymore. All it says to do is close the lid, but the dam thing isnt open. I tried opening and closing, removing ink cartrige and even slamming it down but still say door opened?

Use the instructions below to resolve the issue by restarting the product.
