How happy are people who have changed their Husq. designer 1 floppy to usb.

I got a quote for parts to update my Husq Designer 1 to a usb. No one seems to know what, if any success or if people are satisfied for having done this expensive job. Can you please help me ? Husq. dept in Canada has no clue what so ever and say they do not know anyone of staff who would know... disappointing for such a great machine... Thank you. [email protected] ph: 1-506-576-1976.

We have done about 30 of these jobs here in Edmonton Alberta.
I am unaware of any unhappy customers.

SOURCE: internal flopppy problem with Designer 1 embroidery machine

Dear bjdouce,

Push the floppy drive lid inwards and do the following:

First of all, check for any visible thread or dust inside the floppy drive.

Secondly clean the drive by blowing it with compressed air.

If this does not help, it is time to upgrade your machine to USB. Great to work with. Cost: plus minus $500.00.

Good Luck

SOURCE: husqvarna designer 1 floppy drive to usb

First you need the USB upgrade kit that has the connectors and parts to change the cover of the machine.
Next, you will need a new main circuit board if your machine was made prior to about 2006.
At this point, the cost of parts is about $489. If you can get someone to install these for $10, you can get this done for under $500.
Otherwise, go to an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer and check into trading your Designer 1 in for a Designer SE. You will then be able to plug in an external 3.5 floppy drive to read your old disks, a USB stick, or plug directly into your computer and read them from the hard drive (an upgraded Designer 1 can read ONLY from the stick). Used Designer SE's are very reasonably priced since the introduction of the Designer Diamond as the new top of the line and you may be able to get a full manufacturers warranty on the gently used machine.

SOURCE: I the floppy discs that control my Designer 1 embroidery machine

You can have replacement discs ordered from Husqvarna Viking. Visit an authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for them to order the replacement discs. However, you might luck out and they have some already on hand from a scrapped machine or a trade-in. You can find your nearest dealer by visiting the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com and clicking on dealer link down the left side of the page.

Good luck.

EXTERNAL FLOPPY DRIVE FOR DESIGNER 1 ?? HOW TO

Sorry, an external floppy drive will not work for a Designer 1. You would have no where to plug the cable in to. The internal floppy drive is quite expensive. You might want to look around for a used Designer 1. You can probably find one for $400-$500. Replacing the floppy drive on yours would cost you almost $400 depending on the local dealer pricing.

Replace floppy drive with USB on a Designer 1

Check with a Viking dealer whether Viking offers a conversion kit. My guess is that rather than offer such a kit, Viking would rather sell replacement floppy drives or a newer model of machine.

I need a replacement for my floppy drive.

Check with some long time Husqvarna Dealers and see if anyone has upgraded any Designer 1's from floppy drive to USB. I have kept all of the used drives that I removed from upgraded machines and I sell them as used at a reduced price.New drives are available to authorized repair centers. They will cost quite a bit.You can also have your machine updated to USB.My recommendation is to find a used drive.

Viking designer se screen is stuck in welcome screen when turned on. update did not help me! my steps: 1turn on Designer SE le and connect to computer. 2install Designer SE 3D embroidery Software...

I purchased my designer se in 2006, and the frozen screen happened for the first time tonight as I was installing fonts on the machine. I did as suggested...got into update mode and installed the latest update and it worked! Thanks so much. I thought I would have to pay a lot of money to have the problem resolved. I am a happy DSE owner.

The 3-D embroidery system seems to be only compatible with downloading the designs to a floppy disk. I have a Husqvarna Designer I that has a USB port. Is there any way to download designs to an USB...

USB Designer 1s use Disk Manager, just like their floppy disk sisters, but it needs to be Disk Manager USB. New USB Des1s came with this program on a CD, and this software was also included free when a floppy disk Des1 was converted to USB. If you bought your D1 USB new, check the disks that came with it - one should be Disk Manager USB. If you purchased the machine second hand, contact the seller and ask for the program. It is a free standing program and you don't need a dongle. Check your 3D software - you might already have what you need. Open 3D, click down arrow for Accessories (far right-hand side) - what does your Disk Manager say? If it says Disk Manager USB you are okay to go.

I am not 100% sure of this, but I think that maybe the last update for 3D software (version 7.25) might have included Disk Manager USB. Go to the Husqvarna website and make sure your 3D is updated to the latest version.

If none of the above helps you, there is always the cheap cost embroidery software alternatives: Embird or Sew What. I believe they can write to Designer 1 USB sticks now.

How do I get a copy of Designer 1 Disk manager?

Designs can be converted for the Designer 1 (floppy disk or usb stick) one design at a time using Organizer. For a full copy of Disk Manager, you should get 4D Embroidery and it will be included.
Disk Manager is a copyrighted product and a "copy" can not be legally obtained.

How can I upgrade my Designer I from floppy to USB?

Hi, I am just about to buy a designer 1 second hand......I gather that you can have it changed to USB by your dealer, for a couple of hundred pounds however I have also been told to be aware that this will not increase the speed that it reads, apparently they just change the hardware to take a usb stick, the reading software in the machine remains the same.
The advantage is that you can download to USB as most computers don't have a floppy drive any more but if you try and put too many designs on your USB the machine apparently will take forever to find them.
Hope this is useful.
