The button is red,when I try to print, it tells me to unplug the printer, then replug and unatatch the cord then press start button. the green light comes on then blinks, then turns to red.

There may be some error related to fuser or LSU.
Pl. down load samsung easy printer manager from samsung site or it can found on the disk provided.
run it it show the error detail.

it means that one of the componets in the printer need replacing it could be the waste toner container. have a look at the on screen display that you get when the printer is operating
to access in windows XP go to the clock corner of your screen
you will see icons
find the one that is for the clp300 click on it and the on screen display will appear
look at the informaton and it should tell you whatt is wrong

This may be a help. I had a similar problem with an ML-2850 which fresh out of the box refused to print, not even a test page, green light followed by red and the smart panel showed that the printer thought that there was no toner in it.
After struggling with it for an hour I hit upon the following.
Turn off the printer.
Take out the toner cartridge.
In the hole where the toner came from there's a gear on the left hand side which is sort of diagonal mesh to match the underside of the toner cartridge. Rock it back and forth a bit and then stick the cartridge back in.
My guess is, if you're unlucky when you install a new cartridge you could have a situation where the gear is in exactly the wrong position, tooth to tooth with the underside of the toner so this gear doesn't mesh properly, the cartridge doesn't seat properly, which then shows the printer as having no toner in it. Waggling the gear just changes the position slightly and then voila. A bit like rocking a car back and forth in gear to free a stuck starter motor.
