All outside shots are overexposed but inside are not

No matter what setting, even auto, all exterior shots are washed out and overexposed but interior shots turn out correct.

I'm not sure, but double check your settings.Especially the ISO.If it is set too high it could cause that.I can't think of anything else it could be,so good luck and I hope this helps.

Methods how to do white washing on pine wood?

First use a stain blocking primer such as Killz. If it is an item that is outside use a good exterior paint two coats. Inside items use interior paint two coats. Don't use exterior paint inside cause it can contain pesticides that can cause harm to you. Pine will seep sap for a few years so you may need to repaint sooner than usual.

Today my rebel xs was overexposing outside pics in auto mod. To get some kind of shot I have to go to manual with shutter at 1/4000, aperture 36, iso400 and still am getting heavy overexposure. Why?

The Rebel XS has an exposure compensation of + or - 2 EV in 1/3 or 1/2 stop increments. I suspect that this setting has been altered resulting in over exposures. It will not matter where you set your camera in manual operation it will still yield an overexposure.

I always put the flash on Auto but every picture requiring the flash comes out overexposed, even though the flash is required for the shot. Any ideas?

yes ...change the environmental mode...and set it to normal..cause it may be on night vision or something like that ..or ..choose it by the need of the moment ..day light ...inside..outside..etc

Pictures are over exposed when outside

You may have the settings wrong. Check in the MENU to see if you have it set to "inside" pics rather than outside.
Also the ISO has a lot to do with the exposure. If the iso is set too low outside sunlight pics will be white or overexposed. Try setting ISO on wheel for various options select program mode button and MENU select ISO 120 or 250. These are are pretty general settings. the flash will only engage inside or outside if the light is low ( like evening) I suspect your ISO setting is at a setting that is incompatible with bright sunlight
t
Also select White Balance and move it to DAYLIGHT

take a few shots inside and out to see if there is an improvement.

Pictures a very overexposed. Inside I can shoot without a flash at 400 ISO and they come out right. Outside they turn white. Also the shutter speed won't register. I can set it at 125 or even 500 and it...

Have you set the 400 ISO, or do you have the camera on Auto ISO?
Go back to your setup menus and set the Sensitivity to the lowest ISO value possible.  Now set the White Balance to Auto. Exit the menus.
Now set the camera to P for program. In effect, you have turned the camera into a point-and-shoot dimwit. It should now take reasonably well exposed shots indoor and outdoor.
If the shutter speed does not register on the body, you should put the dial on Tv and see if you can alter the speeds.  Remember, not all finctions are available for all dial settings.

Over exposure

Hey - have the same problem. All my still pictures are coming out overexposed, no matter what setting I use. Tried resetting, tried new battery, tried new memory card, tried different exposure settings. Nothing fixed it or affected it. However, my movie exposure works great so I can take movies just fine. Are you able to take movies with no overexposure?

Overexposed exterior shots?

Best Solutionposted on May 20, 2007 By Noggin Rank: Guru Rating: 85.39%, 375 votes Here is the link for the user manual for your camera; http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/conten... Check page 53 (Metering) and try the two different settings to see if you get a change Check Page 43 and 45 (Exposure compensation) and try playing with the settings Check page 44 abd 45 (ISO sensitivity/White balance) and also have a play around If none of this works then check page 103 for reset to default settings instructions. If none of this solves the problem please post again - Hope it helps :) Comment by Noggin, posted on May 20, 2007 ps for samsung tech support on digital cameras you need to look at the global sites, not the US site - don't know why - the link to the global sites are available on the US samsung site. This really worked for me....to set it back to default setting...I had no more trouble! Try it. I removed my memory chip before I did this so nothing would happen to the photos. I doubt it would have any bearing, but I was being precautious.
