I have a DS Lite, an R4 card and a micro sdhc transflash card. I have
uploaded the moonshell files onto the micro card as various people have
said, and, when inserted, the ds screen just flashes the front screen
and then goes to a red chip symbol with ? and Menu in. I think this
means that either the menu isn't found (and it is on root) or that it's
not recognised. I have tried to download a number of formats including
1.18, 1.21 and 1.17 but none are working. Please advise
well I suppose it's an R4 sdhc upgrade, or at least that's what it says on the box.well I suppose it's an R4 sdhc upgrade, or at least that's what it says on the box.
i have got _DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MENU.INI, DS_MSHL.NDS files, and moonshl _system_ folders. That seems correct, but I'm wondering if the R4 card itself is a dud...how would I tell?i have got _DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MENU.INI, DS_MSHL.NDS files, and moonshl _system_ folders. I got it sorted - it's just that the cloned firmware I was using wasn't the right one - thanks for asking though :)I got it sorted - it's just that the cloned firmware I was using wasn't the right one - thanks for asking though :)

Stuck on Loading Screen
This usually indicates that the software kernel on the micro sd memory card has become corrupted. It can also happen if the micro sd memory card is overloaded with games, music and video files etc. The solution is to reinstall the kernel software on the micro sd card and ensure the micro sd memory card is not overloaded. Leave about 25% memory free.
download SDformatter and format the sd card with that, place all the files on there, none in folders..
First you need to make sure you have the current firmware for the R4 card loaded onto the micro-sd card. I know that some R4 cards only accept up to a 2gb memory card so check and make sure you are using the correct micro card with the R4. When you have downloaded the firmware for your card you need to make some folders. Label them games...movies... music... etc.. making a folder for each one. Put the Mp3 files in the correct folder. When you use your R4 you will see three icons at the startup screen go to the one labeled multi-media... Moonshell will run the movies/music... you are ready to go ... hope this helps
Ah yes, please reformat the card and install moonshell; system cirrectly according to instructions.
yoou might want to back up you nds files first to PC.
I recommend installing latest moonshell 1.18.
You should check if the R4 card is actually R4 SDHC, because the
firmware of R4DS is not compatible with it. If it is SDHC, go to this
website http://rs320.rapidshare.com/files/140174805/English-1.21.zip
to download the firmware for your card. If there are any roms on it,
you should save them somewhere else, for you have to format the card
first (do this in windows by going to 'this computer', then
right-clicking on the SD card from your R4 and then select 'format'.
Warning! Never select 'quick format'! This could do damage). Now your
card is completely empty. Copy the files you just downloaded and
unzipped to the card (5 files; _system_, moonshl, _DS_MENU.DAT,
_DS_MENU.INI and _DS_MSHL.NDS). Now put the SD card in the R4 and it
should work properly :) I had the same problem, and I have just solved
it *grin*. I hope this was useful.
1- If you are using the same card in both cards and only work in the R4 deluxe then your R4 SDHC need different system files to work.
2- If you are using different cards with different system files for each one then the files would be corrupted, download them again from R4 site; or your SD memory need to be formatted to fat32 for your SDHC R4.
