THANKS
Yes you will have to get a new heater , if part number is not available take the failed one as a sample to the store for them to look for an alternate. Keep the unit off with doors open to completely defrost all ice. use a hair drier to hasten the process. The drain line will take longer to clean use a straightened out wire coat hanger to push the ice plug through quicker/

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you access to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somewhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wire around the heater( black heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now every time the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over

I have the same problem. I pulled off the panel inside the freezer and the motor fan wont move and there is black soot all over like there was a fire and it has a burned up smell inside.

There is a drain hole in the back of the freezer on the bottom. Get back there with some hot water. Most of the time it is just lime build up. Unless you know what feel back there. Another way is to move the freezer out and from the back side you can see the drain line. It just pulls right off

in the freezer remove the cover plate where the fan is an insert a pipe cleaner into the drainage tube opening.
