Lines running vertical that appear to be red

Have 42" phillips flat screen tv. the screen has fine red lines running vertical. part of picture is clear other half is fuzzy where lines are. Still able to watch just not 100% clear picture, is there anything I can do to try to resolve this ?

Sorry sounds like you have a bad panel Try changing picture format if the lines don't dissappear or change bad panel

My picture looks like cartoon characters from new commercials

I had recently noticed the same thing happening with mine.Then the left half of the screen turned black and has various red, green, and blue vertical lines. The right half of the screen shows has the picture just fine. It's exactly right down the middle of the screen.

use menu and h/v then change then move to higher level and it will take it away.
