I ordered a new thermostat (about $40 with shipping) & installed it. It's pretty easy to replace. The fridge has been working fine since.

SOURCE: thermostat switch comes on but fridge does not cool

Hi,

As the weather is getting warmer for many people their freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong. If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.

If your refrigerator is running but warm, then…

Check out this tip that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...

The refrigerator either does not keep things cold or with a minor adjustment it freezes everything.

Most likeley there is ice buildup in the venting between fridge and freezer. Then when you try and adjust the control it either goes way too far one way or the other.

Ice buildup, not cooling well

The ice build up on the cooling coils prevents you fridge from cooling properly. You need to unplug it and allow the ice to melt. When the coils are free of ice, the fridge should work better. Hope this helps you.

How do i fix a mini fridge thats not getting cold

Most refrigerators just get dirty coils and when this happened the air flow does remove the heat properly. I would just give the back side and underneath a good vacuuming and it should work again. If it is an old unit and u can see rust on the coils it might have developed a leak and would need to be repaired. But if that is the cases the cost of a repair is not worth the cost of a new mini fridge

Door was left open. Frost in the back. Outside sides very warm. Doesn't sound like it's 'running.'

Move your food to another fridge. Shut your fridge off and manually defrost it. This used to be a farily common practice. Just leave the door(s) open, and let'er melt. You can have a fan blow in it (don't put the fan in the fridge). Thaw completely, and try again. It may have tripped on a thermal overload, so the compressor may have shut down. It may restart after it has cooled.
