The discs tell the machine how much water to dispense through the disc. Some discs dispense a small amount for an Espresso, others give a larger drink. Normal cups will not fill, you need smaller coffee cups for most Tassimo drinks.
Check the packet to see how much it dispenses and check with a measurement jug to see if it is working properly, you may be surprised to find it is working fine.

I think I just pulled off an effective fix on mine... went from leaking all over the counter to no leaks in the last three pots.. not sure if we have the same model.. in fact I don't even know what model I have... it's a plain white unit with a singe button. Anyway, here's what I did:
The stretched spring causes the gasket to seal more tightly than it did before, and in my case, stopped the leaks.
SOURCE: Coffee maker makes cream curdle
Run two or three reservoirs full of plain water through the machine to rinse out the descaler, which is acidic.
Acid curdles milk.

Press and hold the steam button and turn on the machine, when you see the lights going around in anticlockwise direction, release the button. Turn the coffee dial to the left and press the steam button, the grinder should turn. Dial on the right and pressing coffee ****. water pump runs. Press steam ****. brew group go up, dial 1/4 to left B/Group down.
If grinder not turning the motor is bad. Hope it will help to find out.
