Question about Crosley CR7002A Turntable
Radio band FM 103.4 MHz General recepception (as proven by use of various portable receivers) is good. Moving the arial between vertical to horizontal - no success

Try turning off the AutoTune (lock, center....) function (on most FM tuners) and retune manually to the errant station. Then reactivare auto-tune, or not. Toggling bands (as you put it) means that sometimes signal will center, sometimes not...a more or less random thing as you say. That suggests resetting station auto lock. Bear in mind though that certains stations can simply be uncooperative depending on numersou factors such as transmit location, reception terrain, and so on.
