Dryer keeps shutting off, flashes "E1". Sometimes I'll hit start as it flashes and it restarts. Sometimes finishes cycle. Sometimes not. I notice it shuts off more as the load is wet/heavier. Any suggestions??

An E1 Code is a thermistor fault TEST #3a Thermistor Test
The machine control electronics monitors the
exhaust temperature using the thermistor, and
cycles the heater relay on and off to maintain
the desired temperature.
Begin with an empty dryer and a clean lint
screen.
1. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.
2. Set the following configuration:
➔ Door – must be firmly closed
➔ Press Control On
➔ Press End Of Cycle Signal (Louder)

3. If after 60 seconds, E1 or E2 flashes in the
display and the dryer shuts off, the thermistor
or wire harness is either shorted or open.
➔ Unplug dryer or disconnect power
➔ Check wire connections at the machine
control electronics and thermistor.
To access the Thermistor you will need to open the bottom front panel 2 screws the thermistor is on the exh duct (Center) check it there let me know if you need futher help

The dryer shuts off, keep getting an E1 code, what needs to be done

It sounds like this is a Whirlpool Duet or a Kenmore Elite Dryer due to the error code E1 being available only on this models. The problem here is an open thermistor as what error code E1 means. It's either the thermistor is exhibits an extremely high resistance or the wire harness connecting it to the control board is broken or cut open. Click on the link below for the detailed procedure in accessing the thermistor.

Whirlpool Duet and Kenmore Elite Electric Dryers Not Starting

Measure the resistance of the thermistor and refer the table below. Normal thermistor resistance is around 10000 ohms (10K) at room temperature.

Replace the thermistor if the resistance is significantly higher (or lower) than what it is supposed to be based on the resistance table above. Check the wire harness connecting it to the control board, if the resistance turns out good, and make sure the connectors are good and the wires are intact. Replace the wire harness if necessary. Consider replacing the control board if both the thermistor and the wire harness turn out good. The link below might enlighten you further on the troubleshooting of the thermistor.

? Check wire connections at the machine

control electronics and thermistor. See

The dryer keep saying E1

Hi, Error E1 indicates a thermistor failure. The dryer will not operate if the exhaust temperature drops below 18 degrees F. or exceeds 250 degrees F. When the thermistor circuit is open (>50K ohms), the error code E1 flashes in the display.
Normal thermistor resistance values: 60 degrees F. - 15.3K ohms. 70 degrees F. - 11.9K ohms. 80 degrees F. - 9.2K ohms.
Take the top off the dryer and inside you'll find the "tech sheet." It has instructions for removing the front panel and locating the thermistor.

Just purchased a used Whirlpool Duet dryer(2 to 3 yrs. old). I hooked it up and placed it on a normal automatic cycle. The unit started up a little noisey but quitened down in approx. one min. Shortly...

try replacing the power cord, and make sure that you have a "dedicated" power sorce for the plug. The system board will shut the dryer down if a power supply issue is detected. This feature is to prevent fire hazards. Make sure your electric box is grounded and up to code.

Whirlpool duet dryer runs and heats well for 4-5 minutes then shuts off. it has a light that flashes E1. what is the problem??

E1 THERMISTOR OPEN "E1" flashes if the thermistor is open.

Check your wire connections on your thermistor and your control board. If they (connections) are good you should replace your thermistor. If you would like more detailed instructions in performing the "THERMISTOR TEST" post back here and I will find you a manual or find a way to scan you mine. Or, you can merely remove the top of your dryer and inside you will find the TECH SHEET giving you detailed instructions on this test and many more.

Cheers
