You probably have a blocked drain line. The drip tray located under the cooling coil in the freezer has drain line attached that is blocked with debris. Some models have drain tube heater also, which may have failed.

SOURCE: ice/frost buildup & loud noise

this is classic compressor failure. the core is freezing due to unregulated pressure in the lines. repairing the compressor will correct this issue.

the defroster isn't close enough to the drain to be effective. remove the back wall of the inside of the freezer, remove the excess ice. clear out the ice from the drain using hot water and a turkey baster. there is a kit from whirlpool that uses a piece of metal and a screw around the defrost rod, but I found out that a piece of 14 gauge solid core wire with the insulation stripped off works great too. stick the stripped wire into the drain, 2 to 3 inches, and wrap the rest around the defrost rod.

It appears your drain tube is frozen up or clogged in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question

Frezer temp @ -5 ,referagerator @ 47 degrees. how can I get it colder /

determine if freezer fan is running. If not thats the problem.
Remove the back panel in freezer to access the fan.
Check for frost buildup on back bottom of freezer panel
Sometimes this is a auto defrost problem or ice buildup on
freezer coils.
If ice on the freezer coils is restricting air to the ref.
To confirm ice you will need to turn off ref. for 24 hrs and let the ice melt OR remove back panel in the freezer and visually look for ice in the evaporator coils. if it works fine when you turn it on take your mod number to a local Appliance parts store and they will sell and instruct how to fix the Defrost system
