Lift The brush hog up and place on blocks or other foundation that wont fall over. disconnect the power take off shaft from the tractor. Now look for two round openings in the middle of the deck one on ether side of the gear box (the thing on the brush hog that the pto shaft from the tractor hooks up to to make it spin there might be a slip clutch on the shaft but go to the box in the middle) Now turn the shaft till you see the blade nuts in the hole These could be castle nuts with a small carter pin locking them so they don't unscrew. Remove the pin and with a large socket set unscrew it from the bolt then knock the press fit bolt down and the blade will come off, do the same to the other blade if you need them both off. To put them back on use something under the blade and bolt to hold it up so you can start the nut then reverse the order and put everything back on. The blade bolt might be stubborn to get out just take something that fits through the access hole like a wood doll or long punch and drive the bolt down till it comes out as it is press fit and is jammed up to keep the bolt from turning, when putting it back on you will need to make it tight so the bolt can repress back in. Be Careful when reaching under to set the blade and bolt back in. There is not much you can mess up it is just a big nut and bolt Just make sure you put the blade on the way it came off if you do one blade or one at a time you can look at the other to see which way it goes.

Bush hog blades slow down or choke down when cutting grass

sometimes when a belt is wore out it will let the tall grass stop the blades from spinning. put on a new belt and should be good.

Pto on our 165 massey furguson will not turn fast enough to run bush hog can anyone trouble shoot?

Hi Lynn:
The speed of the PTO on every tractor I've owned has been directly related to engine RPM and there has been no other way to change it.
Did your bush hog work with it at one time? If it did, what has changed since then? That might give an indication of a possible fix. It may be that the tractor and bush hog are not compatible.

Overheating kubota b7800

thermostat or clogged radiator you would see the water pump leaking go to the water pump and try to move the pulley back and forth take the belt off and check for free turning no grinding I'm pretty sure the thermostat's closed but the belt could be slipping to so check the tension on it if its to loose it will slip and not rotate the water pump pulley at the proper rpm's

Do I ever need to sharpen? If I do, how?

Hey i found this for you i might help. Click on the link at the bottom!!

How to Sharpen a Black and Decker Hedge Hog sharpen-black-decker-hedge-hog-800x800.jpg Maintaining the sharpness of electric timmers can made landscape trimming easier with beautiful results. Electric hedge trimmers make trimming hedges and bushes easier and quicker than using manual hand-powered trimmers. Electric trimmers, the most popular type in the U.S., cost less and require less maintenance than gasoline-powered models. Electric trimmers are used most often by homeowners with the Black and Decker Hedge Hog series being very popular. While they are not premium products, electric trimmers like the Black and Decker Hedge Hog trimmer can keep trimming reliably for years with proper maintenance, including sharpening the blade's teeth.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need
  • Work table
  • Two medium size clamps
  • Dremel tool or similar hand-held multi-purpose tool
  • Grinding wheel attachment for hand-held tool.
  • Dremel 971 (or similar) aluminum oxide grinding sharpening stone with a tip small enough to cover the flat facet of a Hedge Hog blade tooth
    • 1 Unplug the electric trimmer before trying to sharpen the teeth.
    • 2 Clamp the electric trimmer to the work table using two clamps if necessary so the Hedge Hog is firmly held down with the blade teeth accessible over the edge of the work table.
    • 3 Insert and secure grinding tip in hand-held multi-purpose tool.
    • 4 Maneuver the grinding tip so it is perpendicular to the facet of the Hedge Hog tooth.
    • 5 Sharpen teeth in one direction, being careful to try and maintain the same cutting edge angle on the sharpened tooth of no less than 35 degrees.
    • 6 Make same number of grinding passes/grind the same length of time a few seconds on each tooth.
Tips & Warnings
  • This task should take about 15 minutes.
  • Keep a light touch; too much force can break the grinding surface.
  • For best results, insert the sharpening bit slightly less than all the way into the tool.

I have a bush hog finishing mower and i cannot get the old blades off, how do you take them off?

Take a hammer and gently tap the bolts. Then, get a small torch and use a little heat on the bolts this should take care of it.
